Student’s Worksheet 1 “Games and puzzles ” “WHAT’S MY WORD?” Task 1

Think about things or activities that you like or like doing best which fall into each of the categories presented below (one word for each category).

FOOD

(e.g. pizza, apples, oranges, sweets, chips, chocolate, crisps, hamburgers. etc.)

SPORTS

sketball, cricket, (e.g. football, tennis, ba ga, etc.) table tennis, running, yo

FAVOURITE ACTIVITY

(e.g. reading books, watching films , ironing, cleaning, cooking, meeting friends, going to the cinema, etc.)

HOLIDAYS

(where to go e.g. mountains, seaside, lakes, forest, etc.?)

Now be ready to show your list to the other students. You can mime or use gestures. Other group members may ask you questions but you can only answer Yes/No.

Example: “What’s my word?” Stand in front of the class and try to mime your activity (e.g., baking a cake) SS – is it in the sports category? You – No! SS – Is it holidays? You – No! SS – Is it your favourite activity? You – Yes! SS – Is it reading books? You – No! SS – Is it cooking? You – (mime “almost right” and try to mime the activity of opening the oven and baking a cake in it) SS – Is it baking a cake? You – Yes!!!!!!!

Work in pairs. Imagine you are taking part in the competition, “Top Chef”. Your task is to prepare a dish using the ingredients listed below. You only have ten minutes to do it! Write down a recipe. If necessary use the expressions below.

“SILENT PHONE” Task 3

Stand in line (10 students in each line). The first student in a line will get a piece of paper with one word from the teacher. Your task is to read the word and whisper it to the next student. The last student in the line says the word and compares it with the word on the piece of paper. Is the word the same?

Student’s Worksheet 3 “Games and puzzles ” “FAMOUS PROVERBS” Task 4

Study the list of proverbs listed below. When you finish, cover the page. Each student will get one half of the proverb from the teacher. Your task is to go around the classroom and find your pair so that the proverb is full. When you finish, sit down in pairs (students who have the same proverb) and read the proverbs to the group.
