Aim In this lesson, students read and discuss a website about a charity bike ride, and read one of the cyclists’ blogs. They also write a blog about their own imaginary holiday. 1 Reading • Ask the students to try to work out the meanings of the underlined words. This activity will prepare them for key words in the text. • Students read the text and check their answers. • Review the answers within the class. Answers 1 promising to pay me
3 Vocabulary • Ask the students to match the words to their meanings. Encourage them to find the words in the text and work out the meaning from the context. • Ask the students to compare answers in pairs before checking them with the class. Answers 1 d, 2 b, 3 a, 4 c, 5 e 4 Writing • Tell the students to image they are on a trip or a holiday. Ask different students: Where are you? How did you get there? Why did you go there? Then ask them to think about the other questions and make notes. • Tell them to use their notes to write their blog. They should use Fiona’s blog as a model.

2 Comprehension • Ask the students to read the text again and decide if the sentences are true (T) or false (F). Tell them to correct the false sentences. • Check the answers with the class.
