he Museum of the Americas Artists´ Library is proud to present the first volume of its book “Peruvian Contemporary Artists + 1 Guest” comprising a selection of fine artists from Peru and one from Guatemala, all of whom have received recognition for their remarkable artistic merits. This publication will be distributed in Art Dubai 2021. Previous publications have been distributed at international art fairs including Lineart in Gent, Belgium; FIAC and Art Paris, France; Art Miami, Florida, USA; Holland International Art Fair, The Hague; Arcale in Salamanca, Spain; Frankfurt International Book Fair, the world´s most important, and many others. This book was made possible thanks to the invaluable collaboration of the Museum of the Americas at the City of Doral, Florida, USA, and its Peruvian representative María Consuelo Vargas. It is important to emphasize that, due to the advances in communications, especially in Internet, artists now have much better possibilities of becoming known internationally. We would like to thank the Peruvian artists and Guatemalan guest, who so willingly have accepted the invitation to participate in this important publication. La Biblioteca de Artistas del Museo de las Américas presenta su primer volumen del libro “Artistas Peruanos Contemporáneos + 1 Invitada” que comprende una selección de artistas plásticos del Perú y una de Guatemala, que han recibido reconocimiento por sus notables méritos artísticos. CARLOS DE LA TORRE UGARTE Fine Artist Was born in 1954 in Lima. lawyer 1978, master in comparative law in 1979. After 34 years of law practice he became a professional artist. During 1977-1982 studied in different prestigious art institutions, including ceramics. Initially he worked in portraits but since 2010 he specialized in landscaping, particularly seascaping, emphasizing in sea and waves treatments. He participated in several individual exhibitions.

Fine Artist In my work everything begins with a stroke and the appearance of an image seems to depende on the life of the gesture itself, this stroke is not descriptive but evocative, forcing us to listen to our inner silence in order to let ourselves be carried away by intuition. Some figures are allowed to be seen but almost by chance as if they were about to disappear and return to the magma-impression from which they come.

CLO DE LA PUENTE

Fine Artist This series of drawings arose on March 2020, at the beginning of the pandemic, after a long creative silence. They emerged with an imperious need to express myself and from observation. They manifest different inner stages inspired in my garden at the time of daily confinement. They range from: the expression of energy in the stroke, or from: the complexity of the information (internal and external), and how to integrate it through a collage done with newspaper corresponding to those days. Although I have been living in the U.S.A for many, many years my art has been influenced by the rich Latin American Culture. Jose Jorge Chavez Morales was born in the city of Trujillo, in the province of La Libertad, in northern Peru, on November 24, 1965. He is a prominent Naif Peruvian plastic artist. That has been standing out for his work full of color and joy characteristic of the infantile stage. He studied at the Higher School of Fine Arts “MACEDONIO DE LA TORRE”, in the years 1983 to 1987 in the same city. He graduated as a professional artist with a specialty in drawing and painting. In 2005 he studied Graphic and Advertising Design SENSICO. His work evolved until he entered the formal naive stream. MACO VARGAS Photographer Reinvent ourselves is an expression widely used by people who lost their work and have had to dedicate themselves to another trade to survive. MARCIA RAMÍREZ-GASTÓN Fine Artist Marcia Ramírez-Gastón has trained in visual arts all her life. She chose graphic design as a profession, but the birth of her first child (who was born with a disability) reconnected her with another great challenge in her life: painting. Her images place objects and beings from the real world in “unreal” spaces, thus breaking the observer’s perspective. Her surrealism is personal, diaphanous and accessible to the viewer, where the clarity of her images is a product of a dance between light and texture. Photographer After finishing with many of my life responsibilities, being a mother of three already independent children, and having worked for many years at my own business, I decided to retire. This retirement helped me discover the magic of photography! Photography has made me grateful and fulfilled, and has made me very proud of what I have achieved giving me innumerable new opportunities of enjoying life. I love the challenge of learning new things all the time about photography and I am committed to be the best I can be. Photography has become my new mission and it makes me very happy.
