Introduction from Liz, Artistic Director Welcome to the first season in the Norman McLaren Filmhouse for 2010, and may I take this opportunity to wish you a very Happy New Year! We're still feeling in the Christmas spirit in the wake of Panto season, so why not prolong the festivities by viewing classic seasonal fare such as It's A Wonderful Life, Citizen Kane or the brand new A Christmas Carol starring Jim Carey. We'll also be revisiting some of the best Oscar-winning films of 2009 with the ones which swept the board, Slumdog Millionaire and The Reader, and the delightful Departures. I'm very interested to see the new Coen brothers offering A Serious Man, a dark comedy thriller with all the usual stylistic writing and directing we've come to expect from this very talented duo. George Clooney features heavily this issue - never a bad thing - with The Men Who Stare at Goats, Up In The Air and another chance to see the children's film Fantastic Mr Fox. And the creative team behind cult comedy classic The Mighty Boosh take to the big screen with their off-the-wall comedy Bunny and The Bull. If you want a few films to watch from between your fingers then look no further than Ruben Fleischer's gruesome comedy/road trip movie Zombieland, or Chan Wook-Park's critically acclaimed Thirst. We also have a variety of diverse but classic screenings such as Breakfast at Tiffany's, The Rocky Horror Picture Show and Pretty Woman to name but a few. Remember macrobert is now on Facebook and Twitter - in fact we programmed Thirst in response to one of our twitterfriend's suggestions - so please be our friend or follow us, and enter into the big film conversation! Looking forward to seeing you very soon at macrobert,
