His daughter has been forced to board at secondary school on Skye and now Calum’s not having it any more. He wants to turn the tide of neglect and indifference and keep his family and community - together. His unpaid labour of love was to dominate the last 10 years of Calum’s life and leave behind a legacy – both practical and poetic carved into the landscape he loved.

I keep a tight list. Very detailed. I stick to it. Even more so since she died. But I’m having trouble.

Emma is married to Robert, a publisher. But for seven years, she has been having an affair with Jerry, a literary agent and Robert’s best friend.

Don’t miss your chance to catch macrobert’s Fringe First Award-winning hit show prior to its major national tour.

Winner of the prestigious Herald Angel Award and Fringe First Award, The List is a masterpiece of modern storytelling. Maureen Beattie (27, The Enquirer) stars as a woman struggling to adjust to rural life. Increasingly isolated, she keeps her life in order through obsessive list making. As her marriage struggles she befriends Caroline. When Caroline requests a favour she adds it to her list. The difference between remembering to do it, and neglecting to take it seriously, becomes the difference between life and death.

Betrayal begins after the end of the affair, and pursues an intricate, gripping journey back to its very beginning. A ruthless exploration of the complexity of the human heart, Betrayal is Harold Pinter’s most accessible work, enthralling and provocatively layered. The latest must-see show from London Classic Theatre, back at macrobert after their sparkling production of The Importance Of Being Earnest.

In 2002, Joe Douglas went on a gap year trip to Uganda where he made friends with Ronnie. Ronnie was 16, Joe was 18. They were both the eldest sons of large families. They both supported Manchester United. Six months later, back in Manchester, Joe got a text: “Brother my sponsor has pulled out on me and I want to stay in school. Can you help? Ronnie x” This astonishing true story, written and performed by Joe himself, takes place over a decade: 4000 miles apart and thousands of pounds invested, it explores the murky processes behind bettering oneself in Uganda.

Support Us macrobert is a charity We need your support so we can continue to entertain audiences with drama, comedy, opera, film, and musical theatre; inspire over 10,000 children and young people with high quality creative learning; and help Scotland’s artists to produce great new work. Last year, grants covered only about 40% of our costs. On average we keep a little less than 20% of the ticket price (most of it pays the performer or producer): this means that even if we sold every ticket to every show, we would still need to find ways of covering a gap in our funding.
