We run a huge variety of classes, workshops, creative events and performance opportunities in drama, dance, film, art and literature throughout the year. Our creative activities will give you the chance to work with some of Scotland’s most talented artists, spark your imagination and give you time to create, play, imagine, dream, take risks, have fun and be inspired! Wee Play

An exciting drama group for children aged 3-5 years, Wee Play encourages children to explore their creative side through drama and play. The group is led by an experienced drama artist specialising in early years work. AGES 3-5

macrobert Youth Theatre Groups 1-3 macrobert youth theatre groups give primary age children the opportunity to explore their creativity, imagination and develop theatre and performance skills. During the Summer Term, along with the other macrobert Take Part classes, MYT 1, 2 & 3 will make and share a short performance piece as part of the Pick ‘n’ Mix Weekend. FOR SECONDARY AGES Drama

macrobert Youth Theatre 4 Our senior MYT group meet on Saturday afternoons from 1.30pm – 3.30pm. Led by one of macrobert’s professional Drama Artists the class explore a variety of approaches to performing and theatre making including devising and script work. The class will also have the opportunity to see work by, and participate in masterclasses with, some of the UK’s leading theatre practitioners. During the Summer Term, MYT 4 will make and share a short performance piece as part of the Pick ‘n’ Mix Weekend. MYT 4 (S1-6):

Musical Theatre For all those interested in acting, singing and dancing, or who have enjoyed taking part in either our Summer Festival musicals or our Panto, this is the ideal class to learn and perfect routines and songs, all led by some of Scotland's most accomplished musical theatre artists. During the Summer Term, the Musical Theatre Class will make and share a short selection of work as part of the Pick ‘n’ Mix Weekend. (S1-6):

macrobert Young Company

The new macrobert Young Company (MYC) work throughout the year towards a production that will be premiered at macrobert’s THAT Festival in October. Led by some of Scotland’s most talented artists, MYC is dedicated to creating high calibre work by young theatre makers and performers. As such we do ask those who are thinking about applying to join the company to consider whether they are able to fully commit to the full year’s timetable - see below. Dance

macrobert Youth Dance Company MYDC MYDC are an innovative group of young dancers who create new contemporary dance pieces, collaborate with other dance companies and perform in venues across Scotland and the UK. Most recently they have performed at the U.Dance Festival in London and have just taken part in Scotland’s YDance Routes: Connections Weekend. MYDC are currently seeking new recruits to work on their dance projects for 2013. (S1-6):

Film

macrobert Young Film Crew Great for those starting out in film-making, wanting to perfect their practical knowledge and understanding behind the camera or practice the basics of editing; this class will be looking at film making from the creation of an idea right through to the final edit. For those who have perfected the basics and are looking to add a little more spice to their films, we will look closer at effects editing, creating videos and animations. (S1-6):

Contemporary Dance This brand new dance class for adults, builds on the success of our community dance projects. Working with macrobert’s Dance Artist, this class is a great opportunity for you to explore your creative side through movement and dance, as well as helping maintain health and fitness. (18+)

Keep Dancing Our older dance class is a class for anyone age 60+. No experience necessary! Led by macrobert’s Dance Artist, the emphasis is on fun, exploring your creative side through dance and learning new routines. (60+)

Let’s Dance FestivaL 2013

The festival offers a wealth of opportunities for people of all ages to take part in dance, through workshops, projects and performances. For participants age 10 – 16 Be part of a youth community cast to accompany balletLORENT in performing their new version of the classic fairytale Rapunzel at macrobert. We are excited to announce that balletLORENT are seeking a community cast of 10 children, aged between 10-16 years old, to be incorporated into their final performance. No dance experience is necessary though children should feel comfortable on stage. To join the cast, an audition workshop will be held on Sun 3 Feb, 1.30pm - 3.30pm. WHen Men Dance

For male participants of all ages Renowned choreographer Natasha Gilmore returns to macrobert in search of an intergenerational all-male dance group to create a contemporary dance film.

After the massive successes of Guys and Dolls and Little Shop of Horrors, we’re already looking forward to the macrobert 2013 Take Part Summer Festival – Once On This Island, a theatrical Caribbean adaptation of the popular fairytale, The Little Mermaid. In almost non-stop song and dance, the show tells the story of Ti Moune, a black peasant girl who rescues and falls in love with Daniel, a wealthy boy from the other side of her island. When Daniel is returned to his people, the fantastical gods who rule the island guide Ti Moune on a quest to test the strength of her love against the powerful forces of prejudice, hatred and death. Working with a professional team of musical theatre practitioners, you will benefit from their talent and expertise throughout the rehearsal process before performing on the macrobert mainhouse stage. Whether you’re looking for a summer of Caribbean infused fun or are interested in training in the arts in the future, this is the project for you!

Scottish Ballet HANSEL & GRETEL, AND ME Join Scottish Ballet for a once in a lifetime opportunity to perform in an adventurous new dance piece inspired by the classic fairytale Hansel and Gretel. Working with Scottish Ballet’s education team, bushcraft specialists and Forestry Commission Scotland you will take part in a series of workshops in preparation for the live performance set in a woodland environment on 13 April.

Panto Young Cast Call: Beauty and the Beast Are you interested in joining the panto team for 2013? macrobert’s Panto Young Cast are a gifted and dedicated company who work closely with the professional Panto Cast. Rehearsals and performances require a high level of commitment, but the experience gained is highly rewarding. Applicants must be aged between 10 and 17 years and enjoy singing, dancing and acting. Booking and Information How to Book To book please contact our Box Office at 01786 466666 or book in person at macrobert. All class prices are for one term. Once a class has been paid for, you will be issued with a Take Part card. This card enables entry to the classes paid for. Please ensure you have your card with you at each class.

Under 18s Information All under 18s must have a signed core consent form from parents or guardians. It is suggested that parents/guardians attend the start of the first session in order to sign the form. Alternatively the form can be completed at home and returned on the first session.

Friends Discount With our macrobert friends discount you can receive 10% off the price of our classes and projects. Ask our Box Office for more information and to apply.

Cancellations All details are correct at the time of going to print. If classes are for any reason cancelled, macrobert will endeavour to inform you with as much notice as possible. If you decide to cancel payment for the class prior to the term commencing, you will be given a full refund. Please note, we cannot offer refunds to classes that have already commenced.
