We run a huge variety of classes, workshops, creative events and performance opportunities in drama, dance, film, art and literature throughout the year. Our creative activities will give you the chance to work with some of Scotland’s most talented artists, spark your imagination and give you time to create, play, imagine, dream, take risks, have fun and be inspired! For 3-5 year olds
An exciting drama group for children aged 3-5 years, Wee Play encourages children to explore their creative side through drama and play. The group is led by an experienced Drama Artist specialising in early years work. AGES 3-5

Jnr MYDC Jnr MYDC, one of our newest classes, recently wowed audiences with their debut performance at macrobert’s Let’s Dance Festival and again at the Pick ‘n’ Mix day in June. The class is a perfect opportunity to explore creative movement and learn new dance routines. (P4–7)

macrobert Youth Theatre Groups 1-3 macrobert youth theatre groups give primary age children the opportunity to explore their creativity, imagination and develop theatre and performance skills. macrobert Youth Theatre Our senior MYT group meet on Saturday afternoons from 2pm – 4pm. The group explore a variety of approaches to performing and theatre making including devising and script work. They will also have the opportunity to both see work by, and participate in masterclasses with, some of the UK’s leading theatre practitioners. MYT 4 (S1-6):

Musical Theatre For all those interested in acting, singing and dancing, or who have enjoyed taking part in either our Summer Festival musicals or our Panto, this is the ideal class to learn and perfect routines and songs, all led by some of Scotland's most accomplished musical theatre artists. macrobert Young Company
macrobert Young Company (MYC) work throughout the year towards a production that will be premiered at macrobert’s THAT Festival in October. This year MYC has been working with award-winning live artist Jenna Watt, exploring the theme ‘I Wish, I Dream’ and through it creating a brand new performance to be premiered at THAT Festival 2013. Each week MYC has been exploring different methods of creating contemporary performance, working as an ensemble of performers to develop their creative ideas, confidence and skills as performers. MYC, led by some of Scotland’s most talented artists, is dedicated to creating high calibre work by young theatre makers and performers. As such we do ask those who are thinking about applying to join the company to consider whether they are able to fully commit throughout the year. The company meet on Tuesday evenings. There will be some additional weekend rehearsal days also. macrobert Youth Dance Company MYDC MYDC are an innovative group of young dancers who create new contemporary dance pieces, collaborate with other dance companies and perform in venues across Scotland and the UK. Led by macrobert’s resident Dance Artist, Chrissie Jamieson-Ardill, the company are currently seeking new recruits to work on their dance projects for 2013 and 2014. macrobert Young Film Crew Great for those starting out in film-making, wanting to perfect their practical knowledge and understanding behind the camera or practice the basics of editing; this class will be looking at film making from the creation of an idea right through to the final edit. For those who have perfected the basics and are looking to add a little more spice to their films, we will look closer at effects editing, creating videos and animations. (S1-6):

Contemporary Dance This brand new dance class for adults, builds on the success of our community dance projects. A platform for established, emergent and aspiring artists, THAT Festival celebrates and showcases contemporary work created by some of Scotland’s brightest talents. Performance Opportunities & events Bunty & Doris Performers wanted for a new intergenerational community dance performance with Barrowland Ballet After the success of last year’s Ultraviolet, macrobert arts centre and Barrowland Ballet are offering the opportunity to work with choreographer Natasha Gilmore on another exciting intergenerational dance project. Bunty & Doris will involve performers of all ages – we are particularly interested in hearing from participants aged over 50. The performance will take place in Stirling and Glasgow this coming October as part of Luminate Festival 2013. No experience necessary – but an interest in dancing is a must! BOOK WeeK sCOTlAnD BOOK WEEK SCOTLAND: 25 NOVEMBER – 1 DECEMBER Book Week Scotland is about celebrating books and reading in every part of life in Scotland. Between 25 Nov - 1 Dec 2013, people of all ages and all walks of life will be able to come together to share and enjoy books and reading. They will be joined in this celebration by Scotland’s authors, poets, playwrights, storytellers and illustrators to bring a packed programme of free projects and events to life. Following on from the success of last year’s programme, macrobert arts centre will again be programming free literature events as part of Book Week Scotland, working with the University of Stirling School of Arts and Humanities. Once a class has been paid for, you will be issued with a Take Part card. This card enables entry to the classes paid for. Please ensure you have your card with you at each class.
Try Before You Buy There are a limited number of try-before-you-buy spaces for our classes. These are available to new participants only. Priority will be given to participants who pay for their term in advance. Please contact Box Office for further information.

Cancellations All details are correct at the time of going to print. If classes are for any reason cancelled, macrobert will endeavour to inform you with as much notice as possible. If you decide to cancel payment for the class prior to the term commencing, you will be given a full refund. Please note, we cannot offer refunds to classes that have already commenced.
