new design for Merry go round store Merry Go Round store, Milan The project is the restyling of an existing clothing store in the center of Milan and its new extension. A place next to the shop has been added to the original one, doubling up the space and obtaining 83 square meters of commercial area. The entire project has been done in three months, modifying as less as possible the existing architecture, finding solutions to adapt the new design to the irregularities present in the space, such as niches and corners, trying to find the way to use the maximum amount of space but keeping an open plan, a sense of spaciousness related also to the 4.50 mt height of the ceiling. The store had already its brand identity: the logo and a few elements that are recurrent in the space, such as the twigs and the big presence of white. All the new elements have been designed trying to find a communication with the previous ones, by choosing natural materials with their own natural colors in accordance with the original style of the space: the white Carrara marble, the dark-grey iron, the transparency of the glass and the reflections of the mirroring surfaces. In the first place an operation to uniform the connection between the two spaces has been done: the creation of a single ceiling integrating the new lighting system with three linear rails along the length of the space with white minimal spot lights, the extension of the existing flooring to the new area and the cration of a common base for the windows display. The design for the new elements is very linear and sharp, counterposed to the natural organic shapes of the twigs and the romantic style of some of the present vintage pieces among the furnitures. Every piece designed is simple and clean in order to satisfy the needs of functionality and staying within the measured budget. Via Larga 8, Milan budget 80.000 euro
ARCHITECTURE design for A HOUSING COMPLEX Brussegem, Belgium The project consists in the design of a new housing development on an infill site in Brussegem, one of the districts of Merchtem, located beside the fields overlooking the Vlaams-Brabant region. The scheme will deliver 10 new high quality homes that will replace an old dismissed building currently located on the site. The dwellings will be a mix of two and three bed houses. The complex consists of a cluster of connected concrete-lined volumes, with recessed vertical cuts, from the bottom to the top, to break up the rigid horizontal rhythm of the structure. Materially the cold and uniform look of the concrete surfaces makes a strong contrast with the warm textured wood used to fill the voids in the blocks, these gaps are the spaces dedicated to the windows. The private garden is included in the base plinth formed from rised large format concrete blocks, reducing overlooking on neighbours and defining the perimeter of each property with no fences or hedges. The two main entrances to the blocks are reachable through two slopes placed towards the private side path, which is also a new cycle and pedestrian through-route that runs across the site. Each house on the ground floor has private garden access, the common garden of the complex is in the north side of the property, while the balconies of the first floor apartments are oriented to the three other sides. Floor-to-ceiling windows puncture the house’s walls to bring in as much light as possible. One of the apartments has been shown to explain the selection of the bright and pared-back interior finishes, with the aim of letting the inhabitants focus on furniture and the views outside. In the open-plan living space the off white coated walls and ceilings are teamed with grey muschelkalk flooring, in continuity with the concrete surfaces appearance of the exterior, that with a more perceived texture gives a sense of sober preciousness and it can be used as cladding for some fixed furniture, in this case the kitchen island. Full-height light oak planks combined with white melamine for the closet and the kitchen doors.
Interior design for Villa Leo Errera Uccle, Brussels The project consists in the refurbishment of a modernist Villa designed by the famous architect Adrien Blomme. In the first place a big research about the new finishes materials has been made, the choice has fallen upon natural stone and wood, in order to replace the old ones with something that fits well with the prestigious existent ones that we decided to keep: the Alps green marble and the travertine, the golden leaf used as wall covering and the original “boiserie that are present in some rooms. All the furniture is custom made, the design follows the forms of the spaces, with the aim of making the entire house comfortable and elegant in a classic/modern style that satisfies the taste of the clients. The project is still on going, I curated the concept, the design development phase and the production of the executive technical drawings. All the material about the project is protected for privacy reasons. Project developed with Labscape office

The clients asked for the redefinition of the interior spaces in terms of functionality and style, keeping the strong identity of the original architecture with a new sense of luxury and comfort. The interior design job has been constantly linked to the one of the styling, in the mean time designing high-end fixed furniture and researching antique and modern pieces to be combined.
BARRICATO WINE CABINET AgorĂ Design 2020 - competition: living Barricato is a bar cabinet with reduced dimensions, its peculiarity is to be very thin with only 28 cm of depth, this makes it a lighter piece of furniture compared with standard bar cabinets, allowing an easier integration in the living room. Despite the small size, the capacity is satisfactory, thanks to the removable accessories that maximize the functions in a compact space. Barricato is 138 cm high and 60 cm large, the cabinet body is in olive wood and the door is a 5 mm thick reflective glass sheet, framed with a bronze finish aluminium profile, the legs are made of the same material, from a laser-cut sheet and mounted following a system of joints. The cabinet turns into a showcase when the internal LED strips are on, thanks to the properties of the reflective glass and a LED circuit integrated into the wooden planks. The reflective glass also serves an important technical purpose: it helps not to overheat the internal environment by filtering the direct light, which would otherwise raise the temperature of the alcoholic content of the bottles degrading it. Wine and spirits tasting is an act that brings with it a series of methods connected to traditions, which accompanies moments of conviviality or relaxation at home. These episodes often occur in the living area of a home, and the Barricato cabinet is placed in this context, to respond to the needs of this kind of activity in a multifunctional way, keeping all the different accessories in a single container for a tasting of wine or liquors.

INTERIOR design for EIB headquarters building European Investment Bank, Luxemburg City The building structure is made by two main blocks crossing each other’s: the tower as a vertical volume that pass through the horizontal volume of the podium. Inside the building there are several areas dedicated to different services, the two volumes underline the difference of the spaces: in the tower the office floors and in the podium the large collaborative areas and the zones for the common services. The internal structure follows one main concept that goes around the element of the core, a compact volume that is multiplied in each floor, that contains the main service functions for the building and it represents the access gate to all the working/common spaces around. The project was conceived by the studio Mecanoo Architecten, I took part to the main phases of the interior design since the earliest stages, making research about materials, look and feel of the spaces and trying to find the right way to express the corporate identity of the building with a specific feature in the interior design. At the beginning I investigated more with a graphic language about these identity aspects, that came out by the use of patterns related to the map of the main European cities or using different geometric shapes to compose the skylines on the main walls of the building. Afterwards we started analysing more about the material options, so I started a long job about the finishes going through the whole building, choosing all the floors, walls and ceilings finishes, modelling them in the central file of Revit and modelling the families of the fixed furniture. In the same time of this practical/technical phase I curated also the visualizations of the materials in the space, making renders with several options for the lights and the finishes. Project developed with studio Mecanoo Architecten
The most important spaces in the building are the ones going around the main cores. The hub is the common area in the podium that looks directly to the green of the patio, a space dedicated to the collaborative and relaxation activities and at the same time it is the direct connection to the next working areas.
offices areas common areas service areas
[ spatial configuration of tower and podium ]
The main concept for the interior design of the this space is the use of natural materials, this aspect emphasizes the difference between the hub and the office spaces, these last ones characterized by flexible structures made by prefabricated systems. The core has a cladding made by ceramic bronzed tiles that are the selcted finish with the strongest appearance in this space, for the flooring there is travertine and for the ceiling there is concrete, in this way is clear the contrast between the light natural stone and the shining effect of the tiles. In the areas of transition the lighting system is made by linear/architectural devices with a white light, on the contrary in the relax areas the illumination is strongly identified by the suspended/walls/loose light elements, chosen according to the material and the mood of the furniture.
INTERIOR design for Eurojust building EU Agency, The Hague Inside the new building of Eurojust made for the EU Agency, in the common areas, have been thought several kind of patterns readable on different surfaces, they remind to the geographic borders of the states involved in the EU Agency. The project was conceived by the studio Mecanoo Architecten, I curated the design of the patterns, the application of it on the real surfaces, making trials with the mock-up models and following the production phase and the assemblage on site. Project developed with studio Mecanoo Architecten Images courtesy of studio Mecanoo Architecten
[ map of the european countries of EU and fragments of the borders used to create the patterns ]
The breakout walls are made by a cladding system of copper covered mdf panels, they are long backlit surfaces that cover the entrance side to the most important meeting/conference rooms of the building. The walls cross the main hallway as modules of perforated surfaces that change its pattern according to the drawing of the European states boundaries, with a fading effect made by the different sizes of the holes, in order to make clear the geometry of the border that shading goes again to follow the rhythm of the pattern.
Inside the main conference room there is another wall pattern created following the same concept of “fading borders, to underline the sense of cooperation among the countries inside the Eurojust institution. On the beige upholstery walls designed for acoustic reasons, a stylized line realized with copper stitches emerges, representing a border portion of each EU member country. To give the fading effect next to the main borderline there are three thinner offset lines made with smaller copper stitches.
stand design for Olivari Salone del Mobile 2015, Milan Exhibition stand made up of backlit walls consisting a pigeonhole containing thermoformed elements in plexiglass, used as exhibitors for the Olivari handles and at the same time as light sources for the stand. Three totem exhibitions are located in the center of the area, protagonists of the space to present the new 2015 collection of Olivari handles, comprising multiple exhibit elements that stylistically draw the perimeter structure. The project was conceived by the studio Calvi&Brambilla Architects, I curated the preliminary presentation for the customer with the creation of the render, the executive technical drawings for the fitters, the graphic design and eventually I entirely followed the construction phase until the complete realization. stand design for barovier&toso Euroluce 2015, Milan Exhibition stand consisting of multiple sets to present the 2015 collection of chandeliers by Barovier & Toso. The design concept aims to combine the light with the high quality fabric of drapes in a scenographic way. The project was conceived by the studio Calvi&Brambilla Architects, I curated the preliminary presentation for the customer with the creation of the render. stand design for Maison d'Exceptions Premiere Vision 2015, Paris Exhibition stand designed for Maison d’Exceptions, a space dedicated to international textile excellence. The exhibition apparatus is made of a metal frame and perforated or solid laminate shelves, with a neon lighting system integrated into the structure; such supports are arranged in the space creating areas that are more or less closed, depending on the needs of customer communication. The project was conceived by Segno Italiano, I curated the redesign of the executive technical drawings for the fitters, the research phase and the design of additional mobile accessories for the exposure of fabrics. En Plein Art Contemporary Art Galleries: strategies for development and disseminating Circuit Villas and Historical Buildings The analysis in this thesis shows that Milan is an important center for the growth of contemporary art, in which the most famous, big museums and foundations are the prestigious setting for a creative and innovative reality that establishes itself in private galleries which are less known to the people. These identities are involved in a collaborative network for the sharing of useful information for the management and growth of individual private galleries, using a virtual space in which the exchange of information among the galleries involved happens in private, whilst all the updates about exhibitions and side events of the galleries are made public. From this interaction arises the working dynamics ideal for the realization of a series of exhibition events that represent the time of approaching to the general public. The event will include the temporary participation of more sites of interest in Milan to create a multifunctional system in which, in addition to the exhibition system, also includes space for related activities for the public. In order to enhance the important places in the city, two types of sites of cultural interest were chosen for the project intervention: historical villas and buildings; abandoned theatres and cinemas. The name of the event “En Plein Art” evokes the concept of freedom to enjoy the art that is the target of the initiative, introducing the public to a visit in which contemporary art is the protagonist, contaminating the places that it invests in and giving to them a new look. The choice of materials is consistent with the parallel exhibition circuit of abandoned theatres and cinemas to create two different spaces, but they both reflect the mood purposefully essential, which preserves the veracity of the materials used and shows the ephemeral nature of the intervention. Master’s Degree Thesis Mentor: Prof.ssa Raffaella Trocchianesi Co-mentor: Maria Podestà A.Y. 2013/2014
The project provides a lightweight and reversible frame, made of metal pipes and joints, components which are frequently used in the construction for temporary scaffolding. This system satisfies the requirements of transiency necessary for this type of event, with a modular apparatus that multiplies itself in more locations following the same criterion, changing its configuration according to requirements of the exhibition space. The structure varies in its height according to the function of the space, creating linear differences that facilitate the distinction of the areas, thanks also to the differentiation of colours and of materials that refer to the graphic communication of the space. The cover is a layer of opal polycarbonate that filters the light from above, preserving the natural diffused lighting, in order to emphasize the one punctual of exhibitors which are the only sources of light within the exhibition space. There is a leitmotiv that drives along the exhibition, consisting of a set of exposed wires that wrap around the parts of the structure, some of them conduct electricity to lighting fixtures, others support the information and exhibition panels, breaking the linearity of structural pipes and creating a dynamism in the upper part, which leads the eye to the “point of light where there is a work of art or an information.
