CAPSTONE: MENTAL ILLNESS EXHIBITION

REVIT + AUTOCAD + PHOTOS + PHOTOSHOP + ILLUSTRATOR

The goal of this project is to spread awareness and facilitate a new understanding of mental illness through a multi-sensory experience in order to reduce the stigma surrounding it.

MAKING CONNECTIONS THROUGHOUT THE JOURNEY

BREAKING THROUGH PRECONCEIVED NOTIONS & DEVELOPING A NEW UNDERSTANDING

SPREADING AWARENESS IN ORDER TO REDUCE THE STIGMA

CAPSTONE CONCEPT COLLAGES

FOUND IMAGES + PHOTOSHOP

My original concept for my capstone was an exhibition on mental illness that was essentially a series of spaces that each individually spoke to a different aspect of mental illness and collaboratively worked to reduce the stigma against it. I created a collage to represent the feeling I wanted to evoke in each space.

THE PARK HOTEL STANDARD GUESTROOM

AUTOCAD + SKETCHUP + PHOTOSHOP

Individually, each member of the group took inspiration from our collective hotel design and designed a guestroom. Elements translated into my guestroom were wrapping wood bands, axial design, focal point, and a view of the light well.

CHAIR : TIMEOUT

WOOD

1st and 2nd iterations of a “sculpture for sitting.” Used the joinery as a starting point, and extended the form from there.

TABLE : CAPPED AMBROSIA MAPLE

The final furniture piece. I used the idea of wrapping from the joints and implemented it into a table. The outer 2 sections extend down to form the legs, and the middle section wraps under to create a shelf and extra stability

BLIND CONTOURS

PEN

I became obsessed with drawing blind contours of friends, family, and others over the past year. The more I drew, the closer the resemblance would be. I love to capture the image of someone just by looking at them and trying to communicate to my hand what I’m seeing.

COMMISSION

PEN

Popularity of my blind contour portraits grew and I was asked to draw a portrait of Steve Buscemi for a tattoo. I drew several different options but she ended up going with the very first one I drew-- results shown!
