From a young age, my parents have always hoped for me to pursue a career in engineering or medical since I’ve always exceled in mathematics and science. However in the past few years I decide to follow my passion and study graphic design instead. Ever since I was studying in high school, I have always embraced my creative side through showing interest in photography and hand-lettering. The two years of studying a diploma in graphic design has given me the chance to discover new strengths, which is branding and typography.
My social issue, which is creative block, is a problem we designers go through consistently. Having a creative block can lead to procrastination and downfall pressure, which then bring unsastifactory results. With the analogy of stars, my thoughts are a single lifeform, that is a star, which with time, grow to be a constellation of stars, as one thought leads to another. My thoughts are a continuous stream of ideas and sentiments which will later form a big picture idea, hence the symbol of stars.

City
Rebrandin Class : Lecturer :
Ideas Generation Ms. Claudia Latidjan
The city that I chose to rebrand is Karimunjawa. After my research and some contemplations, I finally decided to make tourism as my concept. The tourism itself is focused on portraying Karimunjawa as a hidden paradise. The overall look has to be inviting and make people feel like they’re on a summer vacation. This explains why I experimented with multiple bright colors and fun layouts. This assignment required us to design a logo, postcard series, poster series, brochure, signage and merchandises.

GEM Boardgame Cafe
Class : Lecturer :
Ideas In Context Mr. Emanuel Pratalaharja
We had to design a distinctive identity and related marketing materials to explore identity ideation process and integrate the experience into creative and functional design solutions. My group, which includes Gia, Eko, and myself, share a passion for board gaming, community-building, and coffee that we decided to combine all of those things and create GEM, a board game coffee shop located in Jakarta. The concept is simple : pay Rp 20.000,00 per hour to access a wide collection of both traditional and international board games, and enjoy locally roasted coffee & Indonesian street snacks.

Packaging Mr. Reza Arbain
To see how flexible we are working with different types of target audience, we had to create a product and its packaging for the opposite sex. Grant and Girvin is a luxury tea brand to make tea a part of everyday health for men. By using old colonial photographs and duotone effect, I want to show the brand’s strong heritage and diversity.

Corporate Identity Mr. Reza Arbain
Asos celebrates individual style and know that expressing yourself through fashion feels great. They also provide inspiration alongside the ability to discover a style that suits each customer. Today’s iteration of their values is authenticity, bravery and creativity. Despite it’s good reputation throughtout the years, their current brand identity, which looks too “ordinary” and monotonuous, does not suit the values mentioned.

Project Design Implementation Ms. Nia Karlina
Lately young adults have lost interest in reading books, or switching to e-book instead; on the same time they also became more attracted to electronic devices - such as smartphones, tablets, hand-held games, which makes their interaction with other people become limited. To solve this problem, Gianina Wijaya, my creative director, assigned me to create a reading space where people can read books and enjoy activities with a friendly and comfortable environment.

Whiz App Class : Lecturer :
Corporate Identity Mr. Reza Arbain
To decrease energy consumption in mobile phone and radio access networks, I decided to create Whiz, an automated network management application that continuously adapts network activity to changes in the network traffic. This means every network in your home will be switched off during quiet periods, saving energy and electricity. This intelligent app will also find ways to evaluate energy consumption in both busy and quiet times, giving mobile operators and internet service providers data on how to use their networks more efficiently.

Editorial Design Ms. Uma Paramita
We were assigned to design our own magazine based on our hobbies and interests. My magazine, named Paper Sails, revolves around food and travel. Through a local’s point of view, I want to change readers’ perceptions of what the city is actually like. Instead of giving readers the typical fly-by top 10 lists, they will actually get to meet the locals, learn some secret recipes, and be inspired by these cities that are full of life and passion.

The
Strange
Library Class : Lecturer :
Ideas Generation Ms. Claudia Latidjan
For this assignment, we were put into groups to create a book cover of Haruki Murakami’s The Strange Library. The book is a fantastical illustrated short novel about a boy imprisoned in a nightmarish library. The main character simply accepts everything that comes his way which explains why we created an illustrated portrait with sewn lips for the cover. We also used caterpillars as substitute for stitches because the obsure ending suggests rebirth / reincarnation.

Typographic Skills Ms. Utari Syaukat
There are a variety of printing techniques and finishings that designers can use to solve problems and create visual materials. Some are older than others, some are not as easily available as they used to be, and others are much more expensive than the others. In this exercise, we had to create our own type composition using at least one printing technique and one print finishing for the final result. I decided to make a birthday and thank you card that will be digitally printed with emboss finishing.

Class : Lecturer :
Typographic Skills Ms. Utari Syaukat
We have to define our own happiness and how we can spread it to the people around us through a poster which can only consists type. For me, happiness is being able to live life as it is and accepting it, this includes being able to see the good in even the worst situations. In that case, I played around with perspectives in my poster. Because I believe that if you want to see the good in even the worst situations, you have to see things in different perspectives.

In this assignment of making an integrated advertising sports campaign, I decided to choose “Cruelty In Animal Sports as my topic. After exploring different concepts, I finally ended up with the one about seeing the animals in cruel sports as just objects. Although animals have wants and needs and behaviors of their own, they are often treated as nothing more than amusements or money makers for human beings. After all, animals are not inanimate objects, they are feeling beings who experience love and joy, loneliness, and fear, in much, if not exactly, the same way we do.

PSA Poster Class : Lecturer :
Ideas In Context Mr. Emanuel Pratalaharja
Using poster as the medium, we had to interpret a current local social issue and voice opinions as design students. My poster is about poverty in Raja Ampat, which is a reflection of the vital role of the state in the development process. While Indonesia promotes Raja Ampat to the world, local people and health workers feel abandoned. Only through proper attention from the elites in Raja Ampat, and supervision from the central government, can change come to the impoverished people in the area. Until then, Indonesia may want to think twice about advertising Raja Ampat as paradise on Earth.

Class : Lecturer :
Web Authoring Mr. Emanuel Pratalaharja
The website that I dedicated to Mura Masa deals with his background as both a musician as well as an individual. His use of techno-beats along with catchy phrases unveil a next step for the music industry: music infused with culture, more specifically in this case, Japanese culture. His creative mindset allows for anticipation behind every self-customized album he writes, with his simplistic yet iridescent illustrations, as well as his use of monochromatic colors. Having said this, Mura Masa has influenced my choice of utilizing handwritten typefaces as he enjoys reflecting himself within each given album; keeping his fans, myself included, at the edge of our seats.

Often times, Jog ja is mistaken as a dull and monotonous city since it is the cultural capital of Indonesia. However, it is actually full of energy and life. In this photography series where I experiment with hard and soft light, I want to show my audience Jog ja’s colorful side. I chose salak pondoh (famous fruit from Jog ja) and silver (Jog ja is well-known for its excellent silverware and jewelry) for my still-life photography. As for portrait, I asked my friend, Faza, to wear a serimpi costume (traditional Jog ja dance).

Personal
Photograph The idea of memories fading away in the midst of the business that surrounds everyday life is daunting. Hence the start of my love for photography. It all begins with a memory you are willing to keep forever, and ends with the click of said camera. Over the years, I’ve caught a few tricks behind my sleeve of how to take the best photos to encapsulate a memory, and here I am sharing them with you. Here are some snapshots that will give you a glimpse of my life.
