For over 100 years, Hickory Chair woodworkers have taken great pride in crafting fine furniture that reflects the heart and skill of a true artisan and the quality standards of a true industry leader. Our North Carolina workroom is unlike any other. Our artisans practice time-honored furniture making techniques balanced with today’s most efficient lean manufacturing practices resulting in a unique environment where quality materials are transformed by hand into heirloom-quality home furnishings. Our artisans lovingly make each piece as if it was going in their own home.

Our artisans and craftsmen are ready to create something special just for you. Intimate and more flexible than a factory, our workroom is filled with generations of talented craftsmen who collaborate each day to create one-of-a-kind pieces that are made to order. Our lean culture allows us to be nimble and creative. With your imagination and our skill endless possibilities await. Whether you choose one of our classic styles or desire to create a custom piece, we are ready to help you make your vision a reality. Once you select your favorite Hickory Chair item you have the freedom to create. Perhaps you will choose a standard design, a piece from our Made To Measure® program or a piece that with a special construction would transform it perfectly for your home. Perhaps a combining a dining table top with a base from another style, selecting wooden or antique mirrored doors in lieu of standard clear glass doors, the decision is up to you. You can request a different wood species our Customer’s Own Veneer® program along with a paint or stain finish to transform a classic piece to casual or modern. The artists in our Artist Studio are ready to hand-paint a decorative motif or striping pattern to accentuate the shape of the piece. Once made and finished you can adorn it with one of our stocked hardware choices, hardware from another piece or you can send us your own hardware for our craftsmen to mount – the choice is yours from our Customer’s Own Hardware® program.
