An avid gardener, Susan Hable finds happiness and serenity in her garden. For the past 14 years she has enjoyed cultivating this space at her home in Athens, Georgia. The ‘Golden Hour,’ that time of day where the sun is close to the horizon, when its light feels warmer and softer with a beautiful glow is Susan’s favorite time of day. She has always enjoyed pouring time and energy into her garden as nature inspires her creativity for her art. This love of the outdoors and masterfully creating a beautiful outdoor sanctuary for her and her family and friends is a driving force in her life. It is this love of her outdoor sanctuary and the joy and serenity it brings that inspired Susan to design four distinctive outdoor collections that lead Hickory Chair to enter this new category. These four Hable Outdoor Collections serve as Hickory Chair’s inaugural launch. Her goal for each of her items to bring this same level of serenity and joy into a customer’s outdoors space.

Haret Metal Collection
The term Haret can be translated as the cabin at the heart of the forest; the caretaker and the center of things. This term is the perfect name for the largest of the Hable outdoor collections. Hand cast in aluminum then powder coated in a choice of two finishes, the lyrical lines of the product are contrasted by a unique fretwork pattern that creates a charming pattern on the seat and back of seating pieces and the tops of the tables. The fret motif was designed exclusively for this collection. The gentle scallop of the top rail was intended to provide a beautiful swaying motion to the back of the chair that follows the arc of the arms and the saber legs of the Haret collection. The series was thoughtfully designed to be elegant and beautiful even when its cushions are stored. Each piece has a custom-fitted cover that is available seperately. Marvelously finished in Cloud White or Smoke Grey, its subtle silky surface is the finishing touch that seals its grace.

The Ibis Collection is named for an Egyptian bird with a distinctive long curved beak that has been idolized from ancient times. Inspired from Susan’s travels to Egypt last year by hieroglyphics depicting birds with their long lines and beaks, the Ibis bird was revered for its dramatic features and its non-confrontational demeanor. Known as a symbol of integrity and balance, the Ibis Collection reflects these attributes. Crafted in metal, the Ibis Collection is available in Verdigris and White powdered coated finish. The Ibis Collection’s graceful forms blend beautifully into nature.
Susan’s intention for the Yara Woven collection was to design a woven pattern that would be completely sculpted by weaving a beautiful woven pattern with recycled synthetic cane and on each piece by hand. Artisans start the process with one corner of the powder-coated aluminum frame and weave the cane like a basket until the end is tied off. Each piece has a custom-fitted cover that is available seperately. The Graystone color of the material was inspired by travel to Sea Ranch California where homes and buildings are designed to melt into the landscape.

Aswan Teak Collection
The southern Egyptian city of Aswan is an ancient city located along the Nile River. It is arid, exotic, and considered the “Egyptian Paradise” and is known as one of the sunniest places on Earth. This region is the inspiration for the new Aswan Collection. Solid teak was chosen for the Aswan collection as its textural Driftwood finish is reminiscent of the arid desert and the sound icons left from antiquity. Each piece has a custom-fitted cover that is available seperately. Each Aswan teak piece will naturally weather like the standing statues and obelisks that have stood the test of time.

ALUMINUM METAL FRAMES
Hickory Chair’s outdoor aluminum furniture is powdered coated in a custom finish, further lending to a long-lasting quality of furniture.
• Aluminum patio furniture is naturally mold-resistant and does not corrode or rust.
• Aluminum is virtually maintenance free under normal use and conditions.
• Note: Customers cannot customize the finish on aluminum metal furniture
Care & Maintenance
• To clean aluminum metal frames, wipe with a soft, clean, damp cloth. Dry with a soft, clean dry cloth.
• Do not use any polishes, chemical cleaners, or abrasives as it may harm the finish. • Hickory Chair recommends periodic cleaning of any surface build up of a white chalky substance, which may cause the finish to blister and frame to oxidize. This white chalky substance may be due to a concentration of salt air or a salt water spray associated with seaside or outdoor pool use or concentrations of humidity and chemicals with indoor pool use.

STONE
Hickory Chair outdoor stone tops is an ultra-compact high-performance surface, consisting of a sophisticated blend of over twenty minerals extracted from nature. An innovative, state-of-the-art mineral particle sintering process compacts its internal structure to create a Carbon Neutral surface of high durability and strength.
• Hickory Chair stones are resistant to stains, scratches, knocks and high temperatures from hot objects and remains unaffected by UV rays. It’s almost zero porosity will give you peace of mind, as it is hygienic and easy to maintain.
• Tables with stone tops, which are exposed to temperatures below 33 degrees Fahrenheit, should be covered to prevent the introduction of residual moisture. This moisture, if introduced into the holes and crevices in stone, may freeze at temperatures below 33 degrees Fahrenheit and may cause splits or cracks.
Care & Maintenance
• Protect surfaces from scratching, staining and etching by keeping them free of debris or sharp objects and wiping up spills immediately • Apply neutral soap to the affected area and gently rub in a circular motion with a damp microfiber cloth
• Follow with a clean cloth, wiping off any soapy residue, then dry with clean cloth
• Avoiding contact with chemicals, particularly acid based substances
SYNTHETIC WEAVE
The woven outdoor frames have a heavy gauge, aluminum tubing sub-frame, that is covered with a custom braided Synthetic Weave in a “Graystone Weave” finish. The Graystone Weave has a textured surface that looks and feels like a natural wicker.
• Customers cannot customize the finish on outdoor woven furniture.
• General Information about Synthetic Weave:
• It is a high-density polyethylene material
• It is nonporous and dyed all the way through
• It is resistant to heat, cold, and water
• It stands up to salt water and will not corrode if it is exposed to salt. • The color is part of the material. This means fading is less of a concern. Note that prolonged exposure to direct sun year-round can result in some fading.
Care & Maintenance
• Synthetic wicker furniture can be cleaned with nothing more than a bucket of warm water and soap to remove dirt and mildew and prevent stains from setting in.
• One of the best things about resin wicker is that it is low maintenance, easy to clean and maintain. Follow the steps below to ensure longevity of your wicker furniture:
• After rain or snowfall, dry resin wicker furniture as soon as possible. While it is resistant to moisture, it will be easier to clean if you dry it. • Clean your synthetic wicker using mild soap and warm water to remove dirt and minimize the risk of stains.
• Cover or store in a dry place when not in use for extended periods of time.
OUTDOOR TEAK
Hickory Chair offers a collection of Teak furniture is a “Driftwood” finish. Teak is an excellent choice for outdoor furniture due to its water-resistance, durability and natural beauty. Although not entirely waterproof, teak wood is high in naturally occurring protective oils, making it highly resistant to the detrimental effects of moisture and extreme weather, such as rotting, warping and cracking.
• You can leave teak outdoors year-round, even in the snow and rain.
• Due to its silica content, Teak is naturally resistant to termites and other wood eating insects.
• Note: Customers cannot customize the finish on outdoor teak furniture.
Care & Maintenance
• Over time the Driftwood finished teak will fade and the natural aging of the teak will show through. The aged teak will have a lustrous silver-gray patina develop.
• Due to the natural oil in teak, Hickory Chair recommends that the cushions be stored separately from the teak frame for the first year to minimize teak oil from staining the cushions.
• Note: Stained cushions due to teak oils is not a reason for returns.
