olor Blocking is seen throughout New York runways, but not just any colors are used. We see a reoccuring theme of desingers using the same color pallette of red, orange, yellow, and blue through color blocking. These colors together can represent jamaican regge, or as Tommy Hilfiger suggests: the colors of the inspirational regge artist Bob Marley. As Laura Yiannakou explains, “Statement-making bucket hats in Jamaican-inspired colour complemented string vests and retro tracksuits, which combined Caribbean cool with comfort and commerciality. Although this specific theme may not be the focus of other designers, there is a pattern in the complimentaty pairing orange and blue along with the other warm colors used.

S16 London trend: The mordern buisness women in white. Through out the runway looks of london we see an on-going appearance of the clean professional pant suit. The purity of white and structure of the blazor create a simpilized contrast and hide any sense of feminitiy. Joesph’s titled the theme of his collection as: Masculine made Feminine. This is a theme that is clearly influence throughout many London desingers of SS16.

lame has taken over Milan for SS16. Many desingers have been showing a lot of metallic materials and glossed leathers. This look is showing and also appears to be futuristic. It is nicely contrasted with the simple silhouettes. In Antonio Marras’ SS16 Anna Ross describes the collection as “The clothes delivered on this thought; humble, easy to wear silhouettes in an earthy palette, juxtaposed with rich and regal embellishment and excess ornamentation. Fairy-taleesque trims conjured up a romantic nostalgia, counterbalanced with plain utility layers, in practical shapes. This additude is demonstrated through the other desingers with the exception of using earth tones for a color scheme. Many of these metallic garments look rather unnatural.

P A R I S LOOSE KNITS

Spring and summer knits are everywhere in Paris. But not just any knits. These are specifically black and white loosely knit garments that appear to be rather delicate. It is also seen through out a lot of these knit cat walks that desingers are covering the faces as if they are hiding behind these unstructured fibers. A. F. Vandevorst’s line especially hides almost all of the body, while still allowing see through elements.
