RADIAL ALTA ON DANCER’S HAND ARRANGEMENT - INSPIRATION
It is a radial organization, an extroverted plan that reaches out to its context with its linear arms extending and attaching itself to specific elements or features on site. This arrangement results in a dynamic pattern that visually suggests a rotational movement about the central space.

The continuity of steps is broke by linear boxes of ornamental plants, murals and pebbles aligned on the other side of steps giving a view to visitors. The exit being a ramp makes the space barrier free.
SECTION OF OPEN AIR THEATRE As the site is gradually sloping towards south, OAT is located on the natural slope of south side. Retaining the existing rocks adds a view point and the presence of lake acts as backdrop for the stage thus allowing the visitors to enjoy the act in a natural setting.

Mr. RAJASEKAR’S RESIDENCE Location Area Climate Status My role
Bazar street, Chittoor 120 sq.m Composite Under Construction Design development and Interior design
Design Brief
Initially the project was proposed to build a duplex 3BHK residence to cater the needs of a nuclear family. Later an additional room in front of the house is to be added for future use. It is a linear design connecting two parallel streets and thus bringing in the proper day light and ventilation is a major challenge without compromising the elements of vastusastra
Site
The site is located at Bazar street, Chittoor. It is a busy street located near the heart of the town. The site is located between two parallel streets and is surrounded by mixed use developments (residential + retail shops)

Mr. RAJASEKAR’S RESIDENCE LIGHTING AND VENTILATION As it is wall to wall construction , there are 3 sources to bring in daylight (Front, Back and top) so all the rooms are arranged accordingly and openings are provided on front and back portions of the residence. In order to push away the heated air in the ground floor, the rectangular portion of slab is cut on the ceiling. Thus that portion becomes double height and allows for free movement of air.
LIGHT WELL As the length of the unit is 2 ½ times greater than the width, central portion becomes a bit darker. So a light well is introduced with tall openings thus illuminating the space. Thus overall the openings are designed in such a way that max. daylight is utilized
VASTU - INFLUENCE As per client’s wishes, the principles of vastu started shaping the project. Majority portion of the built mass was accommodated in the south-west quadrant of the site (making it the highest point), from where it stretches it self gradually down to the north east quadrant of the site. The number of openings, position of furniture, position of over head water tank, underground water tank etc., is also positioned accordingly

Mr. RAJASEKAR’S RESIDENCE – CUSTOMISED FURNITURE The furniture has to be customized due to space constraints. So instead of open plan for kitchen the entrance is modified to cater the needs of kitchen and dining area. The wooden furniture is designed in such a way that 36” from bottom is designed as racks which can be operated from kitchen. This racks is topped by a granite slab and opening is continued to 7’. The remaining 3’ is again a storage space operable form kitchen. In order to follow a rhythm in design the rectangular frame wooden arch opening is repeated through out. The dining table is movable when not in use thus providing a clear space for to and fro movement. The entrance 6’ passage is screened with furniture + opening thus preventing direct view to living area. The passage has is also provided with a rectangular bench with cushioned top for visitors to wait.
