Some tips on Colouring digis by Sammi Betbeder

This is just a short little article giving you some information on using your Copics to colour digital images (digis). I would like to remind you upfront to please make sure when you use digis to respect the illustrators / stamp companies and do not share the images or reproduce them in any way!

* * * * *

Why Digi stamps are GREAT .... * You can easily resize them to suit your project. You can easily ßip your images so they face the other way. They take up less space in your home/craft cupboards (just on your hard drives). They are great value for money. There is great variety... Þnd exactly the image you want. Instant gratiÞcation, pay, download, print and colour :)

SUPPLIES needed.... * Recommended paper - Xpress It blending card. * For inkjet Printers you need one with a dye based printer ink as they are Copic proof so will not react with your markers ... the same applies for stamping - you need a dye based ink.. we recommend Memento Tuxedo Black * A laser printer / photocopier. Some suggested Programs to use: Photoshop (PS/ PSE) - to resize, rotate, ßip and create layers of images (good for masking and creating scenes). Gimp - free software which has many of the features of PS/PSE. Word - you can paste your images into a word doc and print out. Tip time... * Remember to BACKUP your computer you do not want to lose your precious images. * Print onto blending card... check that your blending card goes through your printer without smudging. Some printers will not work as well as others. * Remember to test your ink to make sure it is Copic proof before you colour over the lines. An easy way to do this is to colour with a very light coloured marker (eg.E00) next to the line (not on it) and see if it reacts. If not then itÕs safe to colour. You could also drop a little blender from your reinker on the line to see if there is a reaction. Troubleshooting .. Troubles with bleeding?? * Make sure your ink is fully dry before colouring. * Try printing only in black and white and as a draft. * Try heat setting your image. * Try a different printer. Images shown are from Spesch Designer stamps. release date: 8 June 11 (coloured by Sammi Betbeder)

How do you store your Copic markers? Tracey has these great storage cubes...

Kate uses this ÒmanÕs tool bagÓ - It is GREAT for carting her markers around ... it holds two of 72 acrylic cases in the centre with LOTS of pockets for extra markers and reÞlls as well as room for stamped images too!!

There is a range of portable and desktop storage solutions (from Copic) available in the Mad for Markers webstore. Check them out today! Kasey created her own Storage Box She created 8 x 2Ó square tubes from heavy card stock, glued them together with 4 on the bottom and 4 along the top. (pegs Þrmly held it all together while the glue was setting). She used stronger card to create a frame surrounding the tubes. Kasey used textured cardstock to cover the whole boxed grid of 8 tubes leaving the front open. As her collection of markers grows she will be able to expand this storage easily.

Marcia sent us a pic of her Copic Òdrinks storage containerÓ ... purchased from Spotlight

We always love to see new storage ideas! How do you store your markers?
