FRENCH QUARTER PUBLIC LIBRARY
02
FALL 2011
The French Quarter Public Library was designed to provide 50,000 square feet of library and other amenities for the New Orleans community. The infill site with two non-adjacent street faces determined the partis of the project; focusing on bringing these two sides together through the paths of circulation from each side. The circulation paths were then emphasized extended throughout all three levels of the building, and are articulated as continious walls of bookshelves. The shelving provided an experiential qualtiy of being surrounded by books.

SPRING 2011 The Tube Haus was one of seven group entries for Tulane School of Architecture’s annual Architects’ Week. The goal of the group design and build competition was to create an installation that will engage the senses. The Tube Haus accomplishes this with over 1,300 tubes that are painted 3 glossy colors to creat a kaleidoscopic effect, amplify sound from within, and frame views of the surrounding site.
The staircase was an exercise in designing and rendering with the 3D modeling program, Rhino and Vray for Rhino. My design is based on the idea of a continuous form that turns from skylight, to stair, and finally to becoming the floor.
YOGA RETREAT

SPRING 2011
The yoga retreat was located on a hill side in Big Bend National Park, Texas. The intent of the project was to focus on the site as an integral part of design. My project used a sectional idea of layers of the different program that step up the slope. The design also includes the sectional idea of an interstitial space for private mediation spaces that is reached by each individual’s room.

FALL 2012
This project is located in the neighborhood San Lorenzo in Rome, Italy. The site is near the La Sapienza University and an active music scene. The neigborhood’s energy and existing interest in music calls for a music center to create public exchange for diverse age groups. The program includes an outdoor theater, indoor theater, practice center, and residential units. Each program piece is a separate volume brought together through the roof plane and ground condition in order to create intersitial outdoor public space.

The ground plane takes advantage of the program and the slope of the site by sloping and terracing to define separate spaces and create sequence and transition between different spaces. The roof plane and the hanging volumes respond and react to the ground plane creating an expansion and contraction of the outdoor public space. This also differentiates between the outdoor spaces and their uses.
