Does anyone know some good quotes on depression or inspriational quotes to overcome it? My life for the past year has consisted of depression, cutting, low self esteem and starving myself… Sometimes quotes of any kind make me feel better, happy or sad.

answers: Here are several quotes I have saved for various reasons: “Courage doesn’t always roar. Sometimes courage is the quiet voice at the end of the day saying, “I will try again tomorrow.” – Mary Anne Radmacher “Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness, that frightens us most. We ask ourselves, ‘Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, and famous?’ Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that people won’t feel insecure around you. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in all of us. And when we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” – Maryanne Williamson “We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars.” – Oscar Wilde “Just when the caterpillar thought the world was over, it became a butterfly.” – anonymous “I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I’ve bought a big bat. I’m all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!” - Dr. Seuss “Begin doing what you want to do now. We are not living in eternity. We have only this moment, sparkling like a star in our hand – and melting like a snowflake…” – Sir Francis Bacon “If it isn’t good, let it die. If it doesn’t die, make it good.” – Ajahn Chah

“What lies behind us and what lies before us are tiny matters compared to what lies within us.” – Ralph Waldo Emerson “Good timber does not grow with ease, the stronger the wind the stronger the trees.” -Douglas Malloch “The pursuit of happiness is a most ridiculous phrase; if you pursue happiness you’ll never find it.” – C. P. Snow “The big secret in life is that there is no big secret. Whatever your goal, you can get there if you’re willing to work.” – Oprah Winfrey ‘Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me.” – Carol Burnett “Think of all the beauty still left around you and be happy.” – Anne Frank “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more important than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” – Matthew 6:25-27
