Why Outsource Custom Baseball Hat Embroidery?
If you're an embroidery shop and have recently taken an order for snap back hats, army hats or other types of caps, you might be wondering just how you're going to fill that order. As any embroidery shop owner knows, embroidering a curved surface of hat is much different than embroidering a flat polo shirt, sweatshirt or T-shirt. Instead of trying to tackle the tricky embroidery process that's unique to a cap, consider finding a company that's experienced with hats. There are three steps that cap embroiderers will be able to consider that you might not have thought of.
A Custom Baseball Hat Must Be Specially Hooped
If you have experience with embroidering other garments, you're probably well-versed in hooping. Hooping is the process of pulling the surface to be embroidered so that it's taut, however, you don't want to stretch it past the fabric's normal pull. Hooping a shirt is a much different process than hooping a custom baseball hat. The curved surface of a cap requires special attention so it isn't something that should be attempted by someone without experience -- if it isn't hooped correctly, the design's embroidery could be off-center, misshaped or just generally flawed.
Logos Must Be Digitized
A flat logo combined with the curved surface of snap back hats or army hats just don't mix. In order to embroider on a curved surface, your logo must be digitized. While some embroiderers may think this just includes running the logo through a photo scanning machine, it's a little more complicated than that. A technician who's experienced in digitizing a logo will be able to convert your logo into a format that's easily read by embroidery machinery.
The first time you work on embroidering snap back hats, army hats or other types of caps shouldn't be for a customer. Instead, look for a company that can help you outsource projects like this. If you're interested in gaining experience with these types of garments, buy a couple caps for yourself and start practicing making your own custom baseball hat. This will give you the experience necessary to start taking on these projects yourself. However, you might find that your experience with outsourcing is so simple that you don't need to tackle it yourself.
