Bikram oga The inside scoop to today’s ‘hottest’ craze

”The rhythm of the body, the melody of the mind & the harmony of the soul create the symphony of life.” - B.K.S. Iyengar

The Basics What is Bikram yoga?

Today’s society is filled with many fad diets and exercise programs. However the newest workout craze has a little more background than what is the norm, and also provides many more benifits than a few minutes on the Ab Lounge. Bikram yoga, commonly know as hot yoga, was created by Bikram Choudhury, who was born in India in 1946. After many years and hours of practicing traditional hatha yoga, he came up with a system of 90 minutes of 26 poses in a room that is heated at 105 degrees fahrenheit.

What’s with the heat? Being in a room that’s heated to 105 degrees can sound a little crazy, however, there is reasoning behind it! With the heat and the humidity in the room your muscles are warm and you are able to strech deeper, and it prevents injury of your muscles. It also helps to flush impurities and toxins from your body. Oxygen is one of your body’s main antioxidents. and with your muscles warm from the heat, more oxygen can pass through your muscles more easily.
