The Notebook That Caused Trouble

By: Maggie Liu

Splash! A notebook, as big as two of your heads added together, fell into the water. “Ahh!” Claudia, a student visiting Lotus Pond with her class, yelled, “My writing notebook!” Here was what happen… “I want to feed the turtles!” Claudia shouted. Her notebook, without anybody noticing, was slowly creeping, by itself, toward the edge of the water. It might seem a little crazy, but it was the year 3072. Then, came the splash… “Let’s go! Before another notebook falls in,” Ms.Chagaris, the teacher, joked. After they left, turtles in the pond started to fight over the green notebook because they thought it was a lilypad. “Wow, what a wonderful lilypad! I have the perfect place to stay for a while,” Alice the turtle said, “That is how to make me very, very, very happy. You guys did well, letting me get this lilypad.” Not only was Alice the meanest, she was also the bossiest. “Is that how you treat someone bigger than you?” Hina the Turtle said, sounding annoyed. “I helped you all through your life, Alice. I deserve the weird-looking lilypad. So does Amy. Right, Amy?” “Yeah, Hina is right. Alice, you are the smallest. Be NICE! Don’t be bossy, that way we could all share it.” Amy said. “Alright,” Alice said, enthusiastically. Hina, Amy, and Alice got onto the lilypad “Get off! The lilypad is ours!” Lea, Zoe, and Sally the Turtles shouted. They pushed them off the lilypad. A fight broke off with Amy, Alice, and Hina on one side, and Lea, Zoe, and Sally on the others. Amy’s side had the advantage. They were way stronger than the others. While they were fighting, Formosa Bear, who lived near the pond, saw them and took the advantage to grab Hina and Amy because they were the strongest. The turtles saw this, and all rolled into their shell and started to go towards Formosa Bear. Crash! The turtles crashed into Formosa Bear. The Formosa Bear was so angry, he grabbed all of them and took off towards is house. The Formosa Bear told the quivering turtles what he was going to do. “I am going to let you turtles have a good night of sleep. Before that, though, I will feed you fish, meat, grass…” He went on and on and on about what he was going to feed them, and was so into it that he didn’t notice that the turtles had rolled into their shells, and were slowly, without making any sound, rolling toward the pond. It was pretty easy because it was downhill. It wasn’t until nightfall that Formosa Bear noticed that the turtles were gone. They were back in their home already! Formosa Bear was very, very, very angry. He tried to find the turtles, but the turtles were very clever, and hid under the lilypads.

“This is the Notebook That Caused the Trouble,” The turtles would say to the other people. They never touched the notebook again, until Claudia’s class visited Lotus pond again, years later. Then, they took the notebook out. The turtles tried to write a book called, “The Notebook That Caused Trouble” and got help from a classmate of Claudia’s. Here is the start of the story:
