London Boulevard (2010)

Can an ex-con erase his past? London Boulevard asks this question as we plunge deep into the world of gangsters, glitz and glamour. The film tells the story of Mitchel, a no-nonsense tough guy trying to straighten his life after a recent tryst with prison. When the mafia bosses wish to pull him out of retirement but he has other plans, things take an ugly turn. Colin Farrell delivers a splendid performance in the lead role while Keira Knightley charms us as an actress who starts off as Mithchel’s client, but ends up becoming his love interest. Does Mitchel get the girl and the dream he wanted, or do you die by the gun if you live by it?

Business, hedge funds, corporate corruption, sounds pretty boring, doesn’t it? But what if Harrison Ford plays a conniving money man, one step ahead of opponents with his devilish feats? Arbitrage stars Ford at his scheming best as he orchestrates one financial misdemeanour after another and always gets away with a smile. But karma finally seems to catch up when a gruesome accident is too big to cover up and his family starts sniffing something fishy. The film then takes us through twists and turns galore, as we are left wondering about the thin line between greed and morals.

Out of the Furnace (2013)

“Christian Bale and his gun are looking for brutal revenge” is enough of a selling point to get anyone hooked. This Scott Cooper directorial follows the life of two brothers who are torn apart by wretched fate after the younger one is killed. Bale essays the elder kin who goes after the people who ruined his family. With a star studded ensemble which not only includes Bale but also the likes of Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Zoe Saldana, Forest Whitaker and Willem Dafoe, this is one power packed movie.

Felony (2013)
