Magnificat High School, a girls’ Catholic, college-preparatory high school founded and sponsored by the Sisters of the Humility of Mary, calls young women to live Mary’s Magnificat in the world. Mission: We educate young women holistically to learn, lead, and serve in the spirit of Mary’s Magnificat.

About Magnificat Summer Programs • All summer programs are half-days. • Tuition $175 per half-day camp; Clinics $100, with the exception of Golf, which is $150. A 10% discount will be offered to families with more than one camper.

• Drop-off and Pick-up Drop-off and pick-up for Magnificamp will be at the Performing Arts Center East entrance.

• Lunch Supervised lunch time is available to girls enrolled in both morning and afternoon camps in the

same week. Please pack a nut-free lunch.

• Camp Nurse A summer camp nurse is available daily. Questions for the nurse may be emailed to summercampnurse@maghs.org

• Attire Participants will receive a Magnificat t-shirt. We suggest everyone dress comfortably and wear

sneakers.

To register, visit magnificaths.org/summer. When registering your child, please use her grade level for the 2021-2022 school year. We reserve the right to cancel any camp or program.

• COVID-19 Protocols The health and safety of our students, faculty, and staff is of the utmost importance to us. Our

summer programs will be run in compliance with guidelines from the Ohio Department of Health. The following procedures will be in place for Magnificat summer programs: All classes will have a teacher to student ratio of 1:15. Participants will be required to take their temperatures at home before arriving to campus Facial coverings must be worn by all participants and faculty. Required hand-washing will take place at regular intervals, and hand sanitizing stations will be available. The Magnificat Safety Agreement and Release waiver must be completed by each participant’s parent/guardian.

Magnificamp Week 1: June 14-18, 2021 Tuition $175

Grades 1-3 Morning (8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) (NEW!) Cheer We Go! Join our fun and exciting Cheerleading camp and learn all about the basics of cheerleading! You will learn how to project our Spirited cheers, chants, and songs with enthusiasm! Keep active and engaged discovering cheer claps, motions, kicks, and jumps. Show off your new-found skills and camp cheers on the last day!

(NEW!) Little Vet School (Supply Fee $15) Calling all animal lovers! Learn more about your pets in a super fun and interactive way at Little Vet School! Aspiring veterinarians will explore the world of animal care through a combination of crafts, activities, and hands-on lessons. Come join us to create your very own veteranarian kit, practice good pet care, and even meet an animal or two along the way!

Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.) Flower Power (Supply Fee $10) Experience true flower power with hands-on science and flora-inspired crafts! Discover the buzz about plants, pollinators and the amazing science behind what makes a garden grow. Learn the fascinating interacting elements of a garden’s ecosystem and what healthy plants need. We’ll also get moving and get silly with a waggle dance, the honeybee dance, and other garden games. Finally, create your own mini take-home garden complete with fanciful decorations!

Little Picasos (Supply Fee $15) Let your creativity flow this summer as we create different arts and crafts throughout the week! Each day entails a new project using a variety of tools such as paint, paper, crayons, markers, beads, yarn and sand. Some projects include making your own slime, paper, puppet show, jellyfish salt painting, and tissue paper butterflies. This camp is all about creativity and fun and is sure to excite any art-loving fanatic!

For girls entering grades 1-8 Grades 4-6 Morning (8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) (NEW!) Just Desserts (Supply Fee $25) Do you have a sweet tooth? Are you ready for a holiday baking extravaganza? Join us this summer for a week of holiday baking fun. Each day of the week we will make desserts and bake delicious treats from our favorite holidays. The themes for the week include Christmas, Valentines day, Halloween, Fourth of July, and Thanksgiving. Bring your appetite, and you will leave with a full stomach and baking skills! (Ingredients include but are not limited to: butter, eggs, flour, and sugar.)

Art-Rageous! (Supply Fee $15) Let your creativity flow this summer as we create different arts and crafts throughout the week! Each day entails a new project using a variety of tools such as paint, paper, crayons, markers, beads, yarn and sand. Some projects include tie-dye, paper mache, wearable art, jewelry making, and more! This camp is all about creativity and fun and is sure to excite any art loving fanatic!

(NEW!) Musical Theater Camp

This one-week camp provides an exciting opportunity for participants to explore the world of musical theater! Participants will develop their performance style as they explore the creative process of preparing for a musical through the implementation of improvisation, theater games, vocal coaching, and dance techniques. Participants will use the skills they’ve learned at camp to perform some of Broadway’s greatest hits!

(NEW!) Super Sleuths Spy Camp Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is simple: Report to Magnificat High School for the world’s finest secret agent training. Try your hand at code-breaking, fingerprinting, and more as you complete top secret missions and solve mysteries using your newly acquired spy skills. At the end of the week, put your skills to the test in a thrilling escape room as you and your spy squad work to escape danger before it’s too late!

Grades 7-8 Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.) (NEW!) Woodburning Art (Supply Fee $20)

Learn the art of pyrography, or woodburning! Woodburning is a process that promotes mindfulness and produces something beautiful. You can do it for yourself, or give it to a loved one. And, with the right techniques, you’ll be churning out unique projects in no time.

(NEW!) Magnificat Summer Dance Camp

Train like a Magnificat dancer! Spend the week working on technique, strength, flexibility, and performance quality in our beautiful studio learning from Dance Team Coach and Dance Training Company Coordinator, Paige St. John. Participants will focus on multiple genres of dance, including but not limited to Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, and Pom. This extra studio time is a great addition to summer dance training and a wonderful way to hone skills with a new community of inspiring young artists. Participants should have a strong interest in dance; and while a background of dance training will certainly help, it is not required. If you are looking to pursue dance in high school, this camp is for you!

Magnificamp Week 2: June 21-25, 2021 Tuition $175

Grades 1-3 Morning (8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) (NEW!) Unicorn Universe (Supply Fee $15) Discover the enchanted world of unicorns through imaginative stories, songs, games and mixed-media crafts. Delight in making unicorn crowns, magic wands, jewelry, dream catchers and other fabulous accessories to show off at home. Best of all, create and care for your very own snuggly unicorn!

Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.) STEM Discovery (Supply Fee $10) In our STEM camp, participants will become engineers who explore, build, and create projects together! Each day will focus on a new activity geared towards science, technology, engineering, and math. Participants will work together to solve real world problems, engage in scavenger hunts, and explore math through arts and crafts. This camp will be upbeat and exciting while engaging students in summer science fun!

Full STEM Ahead! (Supply Fee $10) In our STEM camp, participants will be presented with age appropriate STEM challenges that promote collaboration, problem solving, and creativity. Each day, the students will be involved in science experiments that are centered around science, technology, engineering, and math. They will build, create, and explore fun topics while also learning more about the science world!

(NEW!) Photography Phun Explore camera-less photography both in the darkroom and out in nature!! Participants will create beautiful works using only light, objects, and photosensitive material, and they will even make their own working camera from an oatmeal container, a pop can, and some tape! Photography Phun is S.T.E.A.M. in action!

Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.) Calling All Wizards! Welcome to Harry, Ron, and Hermione’s spellbinding world of magic wands, potions, and fantastic beasts. Prepare for full immersion into Potter-mania as you experience the excitement and camaraderie of competing for the House Cup with your friends. Create and care for your own fantastic beasts such as dragons and pygmy puffs. Advance to the subtle art of potion-making, and put your wizarding knowledge to the test in magic duels. It’s going to be an unforgettably magical summer!

Lemonade Day Camp Lemonade Day Camp is a young entrepreneur’s dream! In a small team setting, entrepreneurs will create a l emonade stand; determining what product(s) to sell, how to price, market, and sell the product(s); how to realize a profit; and how to distribute the profit to teammates and a charity of choice. The Lemonade Stand will be open for business on the fourth day of camp, so plan to stop by for some icy refreshment. This camp is based on the model created by National Lemonade Day.

(NEW!) Picture Perfect

Participants in this photography summer camp work with a photographer and their fellow classmates to obtain new ways of looking at the same image while learning a wide variety of technical and artistic approaches. They will use a DSLR and other studio equipment to practice techniques both in the studio and outdoors. They will explore Photoshop and even get their hands dirty in the darkroom where we will combine some digital techniques with some of the traditional and alternative processes! Students will take home beautiful images and bring home a lovely photo transfer on a wood panel.

Magnificamp Week 3: June 28-July 2, 2021 Tuition $175

Grades 1-3 Morning (8:30 - 11:30 a.m.) Girls Rock Math Math is so much fun! Learn how by combining art, games, and jewelry-making with numeracy. Participants will design beaded bracelet patterns, make colorful charts, and learn about simple budgets. This dynamic week of numbers, games, and creativity utilizes the nationally-recognized “Count Me In” program designed especially for girls.

Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.) (NEW!) Make Believe Theater Camp Aspiring actors learn how to turn imaginative play into acting at Make Believe Theater Camp! This beginner’s camp takes participants on a creative journey, where they’ll meet new friends and explore the world of make believe performance together in a safe and fun space!

Enchanted Fairy Camp (Supply Fee $10) At Enchanted Fairy Camp, participants will learn all about fairies through stories, folklore, songs, and dance. They will delight in mixed-media crafts such as magic wands, charm bracelets, and flower crowns. Best and most magical of all, each participant will create a fairy house - complete with mini fairy furniture and accessories to take home. Experience the wonder and the magic!

Come to cooking camp with an appetite! Young chefs will discover the ins and outs of cooking and baking by learning new skills each day. In our kitchen, young chefs will create delicious food and explore new recipes that they can make again at home. During the week, participants will learn how to make desserts, breakfast, appetizers, and more! (Ingredients include but are not limited to: butter, eggs, flour, and sugar.)

Magnificat Mathemeticians Strengthen your math skills and have fun at our math boot camp! Participants will be engaging in fun activities that will reinforce previously learned math skills and introduce them to new math concepts. During this week-long camp, participants will complete activities that focus around order of operations, math tricks, word problems, fractions, and Geometry for kids. Let’s work on our math fitness together this summer!

Grades 7-8 Afternoon (12:00 - 3:00 p.m.): Magnificat Master Chefs (Supply Fee $25) Come to cooking camp with an appetite! They will also work with small programmable motors and sensors to help learn programming sequence and sensor input. Through games, hands-on activities, and computer use participants will learn the language of coding.

Expand your academic horizons. Collaborate with peers and instructors. Make new friends. ENRICH your summer! Experience what life is like as a Magnificat student by participating in our summer Enrichment Program, specially designed for girls entering grades 7 and 8. Each day, participants will explore three different academic subjects in an interactive learning environment. Each Enrichment day will end with a special event or presenter that encourages girls to interact and build positive relationships.

$175 per week. Join us for one week or all three! (Save $50 when you register for all three weeks of Enrichment.) 10


For girls entering grades 7-8 Week 1: June 14-18, 2021 Creating Confidence Build self-confidence through

theatre games and acting techniques. Learn essential life skills, like using body language to your advantage, and how to walk and stand with confidence from an acting professional. Memorize and perform a short commercial. All skill levels are welcome.

Dance Exploration Explore a new genre of dance every

day - including but not limited to Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Pom, and Musical Theatre! Participants will be introduced to technique, strengthening exercises, and performance quality as they learn about the origins of styles and challenge themselves to embrace these new genres of dance with a fun combination at the end of each session. Participants should bring a willingness to learn dance; and while a background of dance training will certainly help, it is not required.

Dream Up, Build Up: Architecture and Design Step

into the shoes of an architect and start dreaming and building! Combining sustainability with art and imagination, we’ll answer essential questions: What will buildings of the future look like? What will they be made of? How will we build them? Dream up solutions to real-world needs through hands-on design. We’ll guide you through the creation of your own architectural model using real-life materials and techniques. Don’t miss this unique glimpse into the future of design!

Week 2: June 21-25, 2021 The World Is My Stage Many theater skills transfer into

Beginner Metals Create one-of-a-kind pieces of jewelry

in Magnificat’s metals studio using a variety of metals and semi-precious stones! Jewelry will include earrings, pendants, rings, and/or brooches.

Varsity Mathletes Strengthen your math skills AND have fun! Participants will engage in fun activities that reinforce previously learned math skills and introduce them to new math concepts. During this week-long camp, participants will complete activities that focus around solving equations, money skills, rules of exponents, fractions, order of operations, and math tricks.

Week 3: June 28-July 2, 2021 Word Play Prepare for 7th and 8th grade writing through

Word Play! Participants will meet new friends and sharpen grammar, composition, and vocabulary skills through exciting interactive exercises, lessons, and writing activities. Explore all the places that writing can take us!

Beginner Clay Explore the world of clay, kilns and glaze. In this offering, participants will embark on a nature hike to inspire their own handmade flower pots and sculpture which will all be glazed and fired in a kiln at 2,000 degrees!

Code Breakers Experience the exciting world of robots

and Legos! This camp is designed to introduce participants to robot building, programming, and challenges. Campers will learn the basics of building and programming a robot. They will develop collaborative skills while working in teams to research a real world problem and develop some type of innovative solution. It’s an interactive and super fun way to gain knowledge about coding and robotics!

Enrichment Weekly Enrichment Special Topics Week 1: June 14-18, 2021: Pastry Making/Entrepreneurship Participants will learn the art of pastry making under the guidance of Pastry chef Ann LoParo ’95, of Annie’s Signature Sweets. Annie teaches baking classes and caters desserts for events in Cleveland. She will share her road to entrepreneurship as well as the tricks of the trade to making pastry. Participants will walk away with pastry techniques they can try at home.

Week 2: June 21-25, 2021: Let Them Eat Cake!/Business Basics Participants will learn to bake beautiful cakes under the guidance of Pastry chef Ann LoParo ’95, of Annie’s Signature Sweets. Annie teaches baking classes and caters desserts for events in Cleveland. She will share with participants the basics of running a business while teaching baking techniques they can employ in their own kitchens.

Week 3: June 28-July 2, 2021: Getting in Touch with Nature Participants will use the outdoors as their classroom (including Magnificat’s Hoop House garden) as their eyes are opened to the world around them and they learn how to respect and care for all living things. Under the guidance of Karen Ryan Tigue ’85, Magnificat Horticulture Program Manager and owner of Karen for your Garden, they’ll have fun and be inspired to become environmentally responsible while learning about plants, pollinators, flowers, and herbs.

For girls entering grade 8 High School Placement Test Administration Tuesday, June 29, 2021 12:00 - 3:00 p.m

Rising 8th graders enrolled in Enrichment Camp are invited to take the HSPT on Tuesday, June 29 from 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. There is no cost to take the HSPT, but registration is required by June 15, 2021.

Prepare for the High School Placement Test with Seeley Test Pros All students who apply to Catholic high schools must take the High School Placement Test (HSPT).

• Seeley Test Pros will provide rising 8th grade girls with the opportunity to gain familiarity with all areas of the test, including verbal skills, quantitative skills, reading, mathematics, and language. • Participants will review the relevant content and strategies necessary for each section of the test through instruction and practice. • Participants will increase their familiarity and confidence with the test to maximize their performance.

• Participants will take an official HSPT during the final session. Families will receive an official report from this HSPT. • Participants will receive a 464-page HSPT textbook that includes review materials and two additional practice tests.

Join Us for a Tour of Magnificat! Each Thursday (June 17, 24, and July 1), rising 7th and 8th graders enrolled in Enrichment Camp are invited for a tour of Magnificat. Tours begin in the Performing Arts Center lobby at 10:45 a.m. There is no cost; however, registration is required.

Nothing but Net! Coach Gallagher and his team will provide 5th and 6th graders with a basic foundation through skill instruction and player development. Through drills and live play, campers will learn the fundamentals of shooting, ball handling, passing, and defense.

12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Grades 7-8 Crash the Boards! This 7th and 8th grade camp is designed to challenge campers’ skill level and give them the opportunity to develop increased abilities in all areas of the game. Coach Gallagher and crew will review fundamentals, while teaching strategies and techniques of the game through competitive drills and live play.

4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Grades 1-4 (Tuition $100) Hoop It Up! This clinic is designed for young girls interested in learning about the sport. Coach Gallagher and his staff will teach the very basics and fundamentals of the game through fun games, drills, and activities.

Cross Country Clinic (Tuition $100) June 8, 10, 15, 17, 2021

Scott Troyan - Head Varsity Coach 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Grades 5-9

Pace Yourself! This camp is for girls in grades 5-9 who have an interest in middle or long-distance running. Coach Troyan and his team will provide high-quality training and racing insights to help spark participants’ growth, physically and mentally. Participants will also learn valuable information on the subjects of nutrition, injury prevention, racing technique, and training knowledge.

Stick Power! Coach Fedorova and her staff will teach girls entering grades 5-9 fundamental field hockey skills, including offensive and defensive stick skills, small game play, basic strategies, and rules of the game.

Gina Battistone - Head Varsity Coach 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Grades 6-9 Fore! Coaches and student athletes will work with participants—no matter what experience level—to develop and improve their skills, from driving and irons, to chipping and putting. The mental aspect of the game, and rules and course management will also be covered.

Lacrosse Camp June 21-24, 2021

Angie Malaya - Head Varsity Coach 8:30 - 11:30 a.m. Grades 7-9 Sticks Up! Campers will learn the fundamentals of the game, including skill development, position work, and full-field concepts. Magnificat coaches and players will focus on passing, catching, cradling, and ground ball scooping skills. Goal! You will develop and improve your passing, dribbling, and shooting skills, fitness levels, and strategies for the game. Coach Kimani and his staff will help you implement these skills and strategies with drills, small game situations, and full-field play.

Softball Camp July 12-15, 2021

Zoltan Zoltai - Head Varsity Coach 12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Grades 5-9 Batter Up! This camp is for girls entering grades 5-9 who love softball and want to sharpen their skills. Coach Zoltai and his staff will share their love of the game, along with teaching and developing basic skills. Campers will enjoy drills, game situations, and team play.

Tennis Clinic (Tuition $100) June 8, 10, 15, 17, 2021

Chris Johnson - Head Coach Varsity “A” 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. Grades 5-9 Tennis anyone? Coach Johnson and his staff will help participants develop and improve their individual strengths, serving up the perfect mix of match play, drill work, and strategy sessions. Focusing on stroke techniques, serving, footwork, and point play, Coach Johnson and his staff will share their love for the game!

June 21-24, 2021

Can you dig it? Calling all 5th and 6th graders! This volleyball camp focuses on skills and game fundamentals, and you will be introduced to the positions on the court. Coach Green and her staff will share all aspects of the game with you, whether you’re a beginner or more experienced player.

12:00 - 3:00 p.m. Grades 7-8 Match point! This camp’s emphasis will be on the different systems of play at the 7th and 8th grade level. Coach Green and her staff will focus on individual skill development, teaching fundamental techniques through competitive drills, games, and live sets.

4:00 - 5:30 p.m. Grades 1-4 (Tuition $100) Jump, set, spike! This clinic is designed for young girls interested in learning about volleyball. Coach Green and her staff will teach the very basics of the game through fun games, drills, and activities.
