Student Spotlight: Kate Tenerowicz ’21
Kate Tenerowicz ’21, knew she wanted to attend a Catholic high school, and she knew that Magnificat’s gymnastics program was the right place for her. She credits her four years on the gymnastics team with teaching her lessons in leadership, friendship, and perseverance. Not even a broken back could keep Kate down. After a misdiagnosis led her to compete her entire sophomore season with two stress fractures in her lower back, she recovered and continued to compete, becoming a team captain her junior year and placing 5th on the beam at the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) State Tournament in her senior season. Ever the lifelong learner, Kate decided to try track and field her senior year and found success in long jump. “[Joining the track team] taught me the importance of trying new things and branching out to find new opportunities,” she said. In her first season representing Magnificat on the track and field team, she placed 6th in the District tournament.
In addition to gymnastics and track, Kate was involved with the Business Club, Students in Medicine, and the Peace and Justice Club. Next year, she will attend Ohio University and pursue a degree in biochemistry with a pre-medicine track.
