Low carb diets are yet another fad diet that claims to help you lose weight quickly and easily. The idea behind them is to restrict the amount of carbohydrates consumed each day. Sadly, restricting carbs in your diet is plain dangerous and comes with many negative side effects, such as mood swings, loss of concentration to name but a few. The reason why low carb diets don't work very well is because they starve your body of energy. Carbohydrates are the source of your daily energy and cutting back on them will leave you tired, depressed and miserable... and could affect all areas of your life as a result (such as work and relationships). Now, the reason low carb diets are still popular is because they do actually cause you to lose weight. However, they also cause your skin to look pasty and your eyes to look slightly glazed/vacant due to lack of energy. Not to mention the aching muscles and joints your body will endure due to your low carb, body taking much longer to recover from an exercise. And to add the problem, you'll likely feel hungrier as a result. This is the last thing you want when trying to lose weight! Eat a healthy assortment of foods, exercise, and get plenty of rest in between and you'll be thinner before you know it, plus it's totally safe to do it that way. Drinking plenty of water, mixing your foods from essential fatty foods, through to proteins, through to varying levels of caloric intake will cause your body to burn off fat on autopilot whilst you eat the foods you enjoy and don't feel the need to gorge on sweets and snacks.
