My nana and I were at the garden centre and we decided to go to the restaurant there. We both ordered a deluxe hot chocolate as a treat. I took a great bit sip… But I felt something strange in my mouth and screamed! I thought it was a slug so I spat it out. It turned out it was a creamy marshmallow. I was so embarrassed!

Chip Slip! I was at the shopping centre with my family and we went to get lunch. I went over to the fish and chip shop and ordered a chip sandwich. The lady put the bread and butter on my plate and I started walking back to the table. Then I noticed the lady from the shop running after me – I had forgotten the chips! Mega cringe!

Add an exciting scene to our story. Perhaps your character gets lost in the snowy wilderness or the electricity cuts out? Or maybe Santa appears with his reindeer and sled?
❆
Write a magical, snowy tale!
❆
The first snow of the year is always exciting. Snowflakes whirr across the sky and create a fluffy white covering on the ground. There’s nothing better than pulling on a cosy layer of clothes and going out to play in it! In my book Double Act, Garnet writes a composition called Snow In Winter. She writes about a blanket of snow on the ground, making snow angels in the park and what it would feel like to be frozen. Let’s write our own story about snow!
First let’s set the scene. T hink about where your main character is and describe it. Here are some ideas to get you started –
❄
● At school ● At home ● In a log cabin ● T he North Pole ● On a mountain top
Describe your scene here –
__________________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ __________________________ 10
Now think about what fun your main character could get up to. Will they be energetic and go sledging or have a snowball fight? Or perhaps they’ll make a snow angel or stay cosy inside?
__________________ __________________ __________________ __________________ __________________ __________________ __________________ __________________ Write about it here –
I have an Extensive Vocabulary!

Dear Jacky, My favourite character of all time is Tracy Beaker, so I imagined how she’d look in Victorian times – here’s a picture! Somehow, given Tracy’s temper and her not liking being told what to do, I don’t think she would cope very well!
