A 3,000-mile Atlantic challenge
Team Ebb & Flow is a group of four women including Julie Eddicott, from Eddicott Wealth Management Ltd, who have taken the crazy decision to race across an ocean in the Talisker Atlantic Row in December 2023.
They will be rowing 3,000 miles, in 50 days, in the Jasmine II with a strict two hours on, two hours off routine. Starting in La Gomera (Canaries), the team will finish at Nelson’s Dockyard, Antigua.

Julie said: “We are all competitive rowers and this has been our dream for some years. We aim to inspire young people by engaging with schools, colleges and unis as STEM subjects are key to getting this challenge completed safely. The technology on board will allow us to bring thousands of young people into the journey and become a floating laboratory for mental and physical health students.”
Team Ebb & Flow is looking to keep sustainability high on the agenda by making their own water, minimising waste and even using biodegradable packaging made from seaweed. Julie said: “We can all make a difference, no matter how small, because it is the simplest of gestures that make the most significant of differences.
“There’s a cost to this of course, and we need to shamelessly raise £100,000 to get to the start line. This will be through a mix of personal donations, corporate sponsor opportunities and CSR funding. Just £30 will get your name on the boat. Once we have the funds to complete the challenge, I will be raising money for my charity, St. James’s Place Children’s foundation. We would love to have you involved and on board in every sense of the word.” www.partnership.sjp.co.uk/partner/eddicottwm
Run, walk, or climb to raise funds for Dorset’s mental health
Dorset Mind ambassador and local leisure and hospitality entrepreneur, Ty Temel, has teamed up with the charity once again to lead their fundraising challenges for 2023.

Dorset Mind hopes that its varied programme of events will inspire people to reap the benefits of getting active on mental health – and raise vital funds to help it deliver local support, education and training at the same time.
The challenges start with the 40th annual Bournemouth Bay Run, held on 2 April, set against the seven-mile stretch of glorious golden sands. There are four distances offered to suit all abilities: a half marathon, 10km, 5km and a 1km Kids Fun Run. Dorset Mind is one of three officially supported charities this year – and Ty will be taking part alongside several Dorset Mind ambassadors.
Ty said: “If there’s one thing I learned from lockdown, it was the sense of community, which is why, at Dorset Mind, we want to reinforce the importance of connection whilst also keeping physically and mentally fit. I’m really looking forward to this incredible year of challenges to keep me personally motivated, whilst helping support local people too.” www.dorsetmind.co.uk
