Community Sports Trust coaches make South Africa visit

AFC Bournemouth Community Sports Trust have embarked on a memorable trip as part of the South Africa Community Project.

Coaches from the Trust have visited Johannesburg, KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town as part of the 2023 trip, hosting a number of events across six different schools.

The project has been ongoing for the last year, starting with a visit to Johannesburg and Durban, before welcoming students from different schools to Bournemouth earlier this year, hosting an under-18s girls and under-18s boys schools tour.

The Cherries coaches will lead sessions with local boys and girls as well as hosting ‘Coach the Coaches’, which is an activity to help upskill coaches and teachers in the area.

The representatives will also speak at events, including the SwitchedOn Education Global Connect Conference and different assemblies at local schools.

It’s the second time that head of community Steve Cuss has travelled to the nation and he told afcb.co.uk: “We are looking forward to continuing and expanding the South Africa Community Project and look forward to engaging with schools, community groups, teachers, coaches and players.” www.afcb.co.uk
