£2 single journey initiative extended once again for Morebus customers

Bus passengers in Dorset will continue to be able to travel on any single journey across the region for £2 or less until 31 October 2023.

Morebus signed up to the Department for Transport (DfT) initiativewhich restricts the cost of a single ticket - at the beginning of the year. An essential part of the Government’s Help for Households scheme, the fare cap was originally set to end on 31 March 2023 but has now been extended for the second time.

“I am delighted to confirm that Morebus will continue to offer the £2 fare cap - in line with the Government’s announcement that the initiative will be extended,” said Andrew Wickham, Morebus managing director.

“It will allow us to continue offering low-cost bus fares and it will help to protect many routes relied upon by local people.

“The aim, in the long term, is to encourage more people to shift their travel habits from using their cars to taking more sustainable methods of transport. One double decker bus has the potential to take up to 75 cars off our roads - and that can have a significant effect on congestion in Bournemouth, Poole, and the surrounding area.

“This summer, we are making significant improvements to the bus services we offer here - and have also extended our popular Breezer routes, with more open-top buses and a fresh new look.

“So, those looking forward to days out during staycations here on the beautiful south coast will be able to take full advantage of the £2 single journey fare cap.” www.morebus.co.uk higher education course helps them find and recruit people for the roles they need to fill, increasing productivity and local prosperity.
