M BUILDINGS / A&E SERVICES
aguire Group was founded over 70 years ago as a small civil engineering firm. Today, Maguire is a full‐service, internationally recognized architectural, engineering, planning and construction management organization. Throughout its history, Maguire has played an important role in the planning, design and construction administration of the infrastructure used in our daily life for thousands of clients. That role continues today as part of the Metric Engineering Group. Maguire’s Buildings / A&E Services Group is a full‐service architecture/engineering division that provides services to a range of public and private clients. Projects include academic and higher education, commercial, design‐build, hospitality,
healthcare, military, mixed‐use, owner’s project management, public safety, parking garages, and post offices. The common denominator throughout the professional services we provide is that

environmentally responsible way. We seek to work with our clients to first understand their design challenges and then offer them options and, ultimately, solutions. We view this as an interactive process in which we interpret our clients’ needs and apply the knowledge and skills of our staff to the problem‐solving process. Our approach combines innovative architectural design, sophisticated computing technology, sustainable concepts, and a complete understanding of the importance that cost control plays in the success of a building project. Whether your project is a public or private endeavor, we welcome the opportunity to demonstrate why Maguire has been so successful for our clients for over 70 years.

MAGUIRE GROUP BUILDINGS DIVISION Commonwealth of Massachusetts Building Codes
M
aguire Group has extensive experience in all phases of building design and owner’s project management (OPM) for
both new facilities and renovations. We have the total service capability in‐house to see a project from the earliest
conception through the actual construction. This experience has included work for private clients and governmental
agencies at the federal, state and local levels. Maguire has significant experience with Massachusetts bidding and construction laws. Laws governing the construction of buildings and public works projects—such as MGL c. 149, which includes the filed sub‐bidding laws, MGL c. 30, §39M for non‐building public works projects, and MGL c. 30B for smaller projects—are unique to Massachusetts. Maguire prepares and advertises bid packages nearly each week on behalf of public‐sector clients in the Commonwealth for projects in these categories and is well‐acquainted with the laws and regulations governing such work. Maguire designs dozens of projects in the Commonwealth during any given year. As a result, we are intimately familiar with the requirements of the Massachusetts State Building Code. In fact, Maguire served as code and construction consultant to the Town of Foxborough Building Inspector during the construction of Gillette Stadium. The size of the project was such that the Town’s staff needed assistance in handling the increased responsibilities. In addition, Maguire is fully versed in bidding procedures under the unique requirements of Chapter 149. All of the public work Maguire

has performed in the Commonwealth has been bid under these provisions. During 2004, we were keenly aware of the changes about to be implemented by Chapter 193 of the Acts of 2004. To respond, key individuals were selected to attend training courses offered through the Office of the Inspector General. Regularly attending programs given by Massachusetts Certified Public Procurement Officials (MCPPO) allows our personnel to stay current with the working aspects of construction reform. Maguire has had a contract with DCAM to upgrade courthouses in southeastern Massachusetts to meet accessibility requirements. This assignment provided staff with a sound working knowledge of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Massachusetts Access Architectural Board (MAAB) requirements. As Maguire has been providing services in Massachusetts for decades, we are also familiar with the Designer Selection Law, Ch. 7, and the amendments resulting from Ch. 579 of the 1980 Omnibus Construction Reform Act.

MAGUIRE GROUP BUILDINGS DIVISION Building Information Modeling BIM
M
aguire Group is committed to providing our clients with the high level of service they expect
and deserve from a professional services firm. Part of this commitment extends to the technology used to develop our projects. For years, Maguire has utilized the latest in 2D‐CAD technologies. Now, Maguire has the capability to provide our clients with Building Information Modeling (BIM) services through Autodesk’s Revit software. BIM utilizes the latest generation of CAD software. This software allows the design team to actually "construct" the building via a 3D computer model which permits the design team to understand potential conflicts and issues long be‐ fore they are realized on a construction site. This ability provides our client with much improved coordination as well as the ability to visualize the building and make changes during the design rather than during construction. There are many advantages to using BIM for project design instead of traditional 2D‐CAD. Some of these advantages, which ultimately translate into potential costs savings for the building owner, include:
A more closely and accurately coordinated design
Reduced costs during bidding and construction with fewer RFIs and Change Orders
In‐house and under one roof, Maguire Group’s professional and technical staff can provide BIM services for new construction as well as renovation projects. All of the disciplines within Maguire’s Building Unit now utilize BIM, with several projects under way.
