We live in a world where everything is relative. We have reached a place that there seems to be no absolutes in the minds of Americans. However, there are some absolutes in the Body of Christ. 1) The name of Jesus is an absolute that you will not get past. There is no other name higher that that name. Cancer is not higher than the name of Jesus. Depression is not as high as the name of Jesus. Heart disease is not as high as the name of Jesus. The name of Jesus is the fundamental entrance into the Kingdom of God. There is no other name given among men, whereby we can be saved. 2) Prayer is an absolute that you will never be able to get around. If you have no prayer life then you will not be able to defeat the enemy. You can call a financial weekend and tell people you are going to minister on six ways to become a millionaire God’s way and pack a church out. You call a prayer meeting and eight women show up. Something is wrong in our churches. 3) The blood of Jesus is the absolute that I want to talk to you about in this mini-book. 2
We live in a society that wants to do away with the blood of Jesus. There are movements that are trying to have mention of the blood removed from anything public, even our songbooks and bibles. One of the most common ways doctors determine the status of your overall health is to draw blood and send it to a laboratory. Here are some important facts about the blood: • • • •
• •
Blood carries oxygen to all cells in the body. Blood carries nutrients to every cell in the body. It removes waste from the cells of the body. Blood contains white blood cells, which protects us from disease by destroying harmful bacteria and virus’. Blood contains platelets that help our blood to clot so we won’t bleed to death Cancer of the blood is called leukemia. Leukemia is a condition where the white blood cells (which should be protecting the body) actually manifest as immature cells that actually destroy the body rather than provide for the body.
If your blood has a problem, you have a problem. The blood supplies to your complete system the energy it takes to get out of bed in the mornings. The word blood 3
is mentioned over 365 times in the Bible making it one of the most used words in the Word of God. References of Blood in the Bible You remember in Exodus how God used the blood on the doorpost of the children of Israel to separate them from death. If you were on the right side of the bloodline when the death angel passed you were o.k. If you were on the wrong side, you were dead. The blood is used for remembrance... I Cor Chapter 11 talks about the Lord’s Supper. Jesus told the disciples that the cup represented His blood, and that they were to do this in remembrance of him. However, the majority of time that the word blood is used in the Bible it is in the context of its use pertaining to atonement or covenant. In our society we don’t understand much about covenants. We understand “agreements”, but not covenants. Agreements are promises we make that we know we may break at some point or time in the future. But the word covenant means: a binding agreement, an agreement between two or more parties; a bond, a pact, 4
a pledge; a promise. Covenants were always sealed by blood. It was the strong bonds of covenant between David and Jonathan that caused David to look for anyone in Jonathan’s family that he could renew the bonds of covenant with after David became king and Jonathan was dead. It was a custom of that time for the incoming king to have any remaining people that were still living in the family of the former king slain. This enabled him to reign without worry of someone from the past kinship rising up to try to overthrow him. But instead, David asked Ziba, Is there anyone left in the house of saul, that I may show him kindness. What a bond that covenant makes in a persons heart It’s the same understanding of covenant that reminds Jesus of the blood He shed to establish a covenant with us 2000 years ago at Calvary. Aren’t you glad you’re on the Right Side of the Bloodline? This is a covenant, not an agreement. There are no Prenup’s with God, It is a Covenant, A prenup is a prophecy 5
of Doom. It is a way out before you even begin. Covenant is good times or bad. It is covenant that will cause a man and a woman to get married when they both look like supermodels, and love each other stronger when they have went through the metamorphasis of married life and are no longer Perfect ten’s. David saw the scar on his hand and it made him remember his covenant with Johnathan. And instantly he began to look for someone in his family to show favor to. Jesus also looks at the scars on his hands and it reminds him of the covenant he made on the cross with you and I. Then, instantly he begins to look for someone to bless and put His favor upon. The other common use of the word blood in the Bible is the word atonement. Atonement was used in a sacrificial manor in the Bible to remove sin. Lev 17:11 For the life of the flesh is in the blood: and I have given it to you upon the altar to make an atonement for your souls: for it is the blood that maketh an atonement for the soul, Once a year they would make a sacrifice of atonement for God to forgive them of the sins for 6
the past year. The priest would cut the neck of the sacrifice and collect the blood. That blood represented the sins of that family for the past year. The priest would then take it into the Holy of Holies and present it to the Lord. If the sacrifice was accepted, then the priest would come out and the crowd would roar. The family represented would then be able to skip home quoting the scripture stating: I am blessed coming in, and blessed going out. But if they sinned on the way home, it was an entire year before they could come to the day of atonement again. Now, Remember that atonement and covenant both required the shedding of blood. Christ was the lamb slain from the foundation of the world, because he knew there would be a day that every day would be a day of atonement. He new there would be a day that you could let go of todays sin, today. Because of the blood of Christ we no longer have to wait until the yearly “Day of Atonement to be forgiven of our sins. Every day can be a day of forgiveness and atonement. Luke 22:20 Likewise also the cup after supper, saying, This cup is the New Testament in my blood, which is shed for you. 7
Praise be to God, when Christ shed His blood on Calvary something supernatural happened in the lives of people. The Bible says that when the blood was shed that the veil of the temple was ripped from top to bottom. No longer did they need a priest to represent them. But now you and I have access into the Holy of Holies ourselves. The veil has been rent! Just like a father raises the veil and give the groom access to the bride, God rent the veil to gives the groom access to his bride. Praise God, I am part of the bride. Thank God I am on the right side of the bloodline! The blood identifies many different things in the body. One of the most notable things that the blood will do is identify the true identity of the parents. So next time someone tells you that you are just like your father. Tell them I sure am! Thank God for the blood of the cross. Had it not been for the blood of Christ, there would be no New Testament; and had it not been for the New Testament, we would never know the meaning of Christ’s blood shed. I’m on the right side of the bloodline! 8
Oh the blood of Jesus Oh the blood of Jesus Oh the blood of Jesus It washes white as snow. What can wash away my sin? Nothing but the blood of Jesus What can make me whole again? Nothing but the blood of Jesus! Oh precious is the flow, that makes me white as snow, No other fount I know nothing but the blood of Jesus. Andre Crouch wrote: It reaches to the highest mountain, It flows to the lowest valley the blood that gives me strength from day to day It will never lose its power. Thank God for the blood! Now lets go a little deeper. Gen 4:11-12 And now art thou cursed from the earth, which hath opened her mouth to receive thy brother’s blood from thy hand; 1 When thou tillest the ground, it shall not henceforth yield unto thee her strength; a fugitive and a vagabond shalt thou be in the earth. When Cain killed his brother and his blood hit the ground and that blood drew a line. “And the earth 9
shall no longer yield her strength. Tillest means to tear up. Now look with me further. John 19:33-34 33) But when they came to Jesus, and saw that he was dead already, they brake not his legs: 34) But one of the soldiers with a spear pierced his side, and forthwith came there out blood and water. Now lets go back to Genesis. In other words, something in her make up will have created a defense against your ability to make her yeild... Now lets look at Gen 2:7: 10
Gen 2:7: And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. When Cain killed Abel and his blood went into the earth, the Bible says that the earth cried out to God. See God does not rely on vision. Vision can be deceptive. That’s why we don’t walk by sight. “But faith comes by hearing...” That why he said we don’t walk by what we see, faith comes by hearing... The soldier came to brake his legs but instead took a spear and pierced his side. See crucifying him would have been alright, we would have been forgiven, but there was more to the plan. When they took that spear and thrust it in his side the word said that from his body came blood and water. When the blood hit the ground old testament became new testament, natural earth became supernatural earth. Gen 2:7 says that I am made from the dust of the earth! When the blood of Jesus hit the ground the earth shouted just as loud. The blood drew a line in the earth and God reversed the curse. It drew a line in you and 11
I, now when the devil comes to TEAR us up, Break us down, or destroy our lives, the blood will have caused a change in our make up that will not allow us to yield our strength to the devil! Thats why Hebrews 12:24 says, “and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant- and to the blood that speaketh better things than that of Able!” That tells me this Abel’s blood had the power to curse cain, but Jesus blood had the power to curse all hell in your life and now it cannot touch you. Draw a line in the earth and let the devil know that you are the ground that he cannot till anymore. It is time to let the devil know that he has had our children long enough, he has plagued our bodies long enough, he has robbed our finances long enough. We are through taking it lying down. We are marching forward to conquer his kingdom and are made overcomers by the Blood of the Lamb, and the Word of our testimonies!
We are on the right side of the Bloodline!
