ON PAUL GAUGUIN’S FOOTSTEPS Departing Papeete, your tour will take you along the West Coast of the island of Tahiti. In the residential district of Punaauia, a visit is made to the most interesting Museum of Tahiti and her Islands located on La Pointe des Pecheurs (Fishermen's Point). This museum displays not only a number of archeological finds, but you will also be able to get an impression of the island's geology, its flora and fauna, and learn about the culture and customs in ancient and modern Tahiti. Continue your drive to the Paul Gauguin Museum, set in a spacious garden. Gauguin lived in Polynesia from June 1891 to August 1893 and again from August 1895 to May 1903, the time of his death in the Marquesas Islands. Your guide will give you some free time to explore the small museum and get a glimpse of P Gauguin’s life. While the museum does not display any original paintings, it offers a good retrospective on the life and work of the artist. The last stop is the Arahurahu Marae situated in a pretty valley. It is a sacred place which served both religious and social purposes in pre-Christian Polynesian societies. There is a short walk to reach this quiet sacred site.

TAHITI’S TROPICAL TREASURES On this tour, discover the natural beauties of Tahiti. You will head towards the East Coast of Tahiti, passing the Tahara'a Point, your first stop will be the Arahoho Blowhole for a breathtaking view on the ocean.
Continue down the south of the island, passing steep coast line until you reach the Gauguin Restaurant. It will give you the opportunity to refresh with a drink & use the restrooms. Continue to the Spring Garden of Vaipahi where rare species of precious wood & tropical flowers can be found. Optional : Include a visit to the Paul Gauguin Museum, set in a spacious garden. Departing Papeete, your tour will take you along the West Coast of the island of Tahiti. Full Day Island Discovery Head towards the East Coast of the island and stop at the James Norman Hall House. The Home displays the daily environment of this poet, writer of American contemporary literature. Continue on to Matavai Bay, pass the Tahara’a Point & reach Venus Point, the historic landing site for most Europeans discoverers and evangelists. It boasts the only lighthouse of the island built in 1867. A handicraft center is located next to the Lighthouse & gives a short opportunity for some local purchase. Continue down the south of the island, passing steep coastline,a short stop will be done to sight the Blowhole. Your next stop will be the Paul Gauguin Museum. TAHITI JEEP SAFARI Board 4-wheel drive vehicles and venture deep into the unspoiled interior of Tahiti. You will head towards the East Coast, passing by the island coastal road. While passing through bustling Papeete cannot be avoided, you will shortly make your way to the Papenoo Valley. You will pass cascading waterfalls, luxuriant tropical vegetation and exotic flowers, and discover an array of unspoiled treasures. Make sure you bring your camera to capture the beauty of the scenery and the breathtaking views from this valley. Nature lovers will enjoy ! DOLPHIN WATCH & SNORKELLING This unbelievable experience will bring you in the middle of the ocean to see a family of Spinner dolphins. You may have the pleasure to see these beautiful animals jump out of the water. Departure time is at 08 :00 AM from the Bathy’s-Top Dive center located within the InterContinental Tahiti resort. The boat will cruise on the lagoon to the pass of Taapuna, where surfers play with the waves, and will cruise along the reef to Fishermen’s bay where dolphins really appreciate to rest. Time for observation of the dolphins. Snorkeling is possible, depending on weather conditions.

The next spot to see will be the famous surf spot of SAPINUS. Then you will come back in the lagoon, where some tropical fruits and juice will be offered.

SEA ANGELS HELMET DIVE A short transfer to the resort and you will be greated by the Sea Angels team ! Located 10minutes away from the base, a short boat ride will get you sight the clear blue waters of the lagoon. The “Aquarium” dive site is famous for beeing a quiet and an interesting area for a first step in the lagoon. Clear water and colorfull fishes surround. Your certified dive instructor will give you a short safety and diving briefing and off you are… ready for your underwater adventure ! Step down the ladder while the staff help you place the helmet on your head. Helmet diving does not require any kind of special training and no need to be a swimmer, your head remain dry and you can also keep your prescription glasses. Easy and for everyone, you will walk on the sandy bottom to a depth between ten to fifteen feet with six person’s maximum at the same time always supervised by a certified underwater guide and this for approximately 30 minutes. You will only need to bring your swimsuit; you can also bring beach shoes for your comfort.

Masks and snorkels will be available, as there will be free time for snorkeling while the other guests take their underwater walk. While this is an optional part, guests wishing to snorkel should know how to swim.

Surfing is one of Tahiti’s most popular sports and the famous Teahupoo wave is one of the surfing world’s most iconic challenges. But don’t worry, your instructor will choose much easier and safer waves on the East coast for you to practise on. You will spend 2 hours on site with an instructor and all the necessary equipment.

THE “VAHINE” CHALLENGE This is a fun way for groups to discover Papeete Market while doing a team building event. The group will be divided in teams of 6-8 for a ½ day “challenge” at Papeete Market. After a short briefing during the transfer to the market, each team will be given a pen, a questionnaire and an envelope with cash. Then off they go for a 2 hour adventure at the colorful Papeete Market, which remains the historical, cultural & social center of Papeete.

The Challenge The challenge consists of transforming one of your team members to a local « vahine » (woman). For this, each team will get an envelope with 10 000 xpf in local cash to buy whatever they think is necessary at the market & surroundings. Inspiration can be found with the local « mamas » selling various goods at the market.

In the evening (ideally during a Welcome or Farwell dinner function with Polynesian dances), each team will present their Vahine, all dressed up, in front the jury (the jury can consist of the CEOs, TDs, DMC, hotel employees or other). There will be the election of the “Miss XXX” (company name) & the winning team will be designated. It is not necessarily the team of the elected Vahine that will win the challenge. All teams have a chance to collect more points with the other challenges: Extra points will be given to the team who has taken the most unique/original photo at the market & for each correct reply on a questionnaire on Tahitian culture, food & other. The teams will have to discuss with the mamas of the market to find the answers. A basket with local goods will be the prize to the winning team (nicer gifts can be included at extra charge)

MOOREA DAYTOUR With Lagoon Cruise & motu Picnic Depart from Papeete by the Aremiti 5 fast ferry towards the beautiful island of Moorea. Hiking in lavatubes Probably one of the most stunning places of the island. We will walk in tunnels that are 10-15 meters wide and several hundred meters long, created by the lava when the island was formed. Inside it’s dark & humid with an extraordinary décor. FIREWORKS Grand fireworks are availale on Tahiti, with professional Pyro technicians who will make all arrangements (permits, insurance…) and who can shoot magnificent fireworks from most places, including in the islands (extra costs apply for freight, air & accomodation & meals for staff). Durations from 6-15 minutes for the classic Grand fireworks. The Pyrothechnicians can however arrange shorter or longer fireworks too and any special desires such as the company logos fiering up in the sky.

EVENING SHOW WITH “O’ TAHITI E” Enjoy a unique 45min show by our local prestigious dance troop, O TAHITI E. The “O TAHITI E” dance company was founded in 1986 by its creator Marguerite LAI. The name “O TAHITI E” refers to the former name of the island of Tahiti –Otaïti – found in the maps of the first navigators. In 1997, encompassing over 150 artists, “O TAHITI E” makes its own path through the history of the Heiva – popular and annual competition of traditional dance and singing. In fact, the dance company is awarded the first prize of the competition enhancing a wave of modernity in the shackles of a hundred-year-old competition. In 1998, still in the same trend, “O TAHITI E” wins again the first prize of the competition. Through the years, the company has performed legendary venues, in 2006 they have celebrated their 20th anniversary, 40 people are part of the company for the weekly performances and around 120 artists for the Heiva competition.
