Y.MAHENDRA-13111AA031 AGAINST THE GRID APPROACH ..

G ,..
Architecture provides a significant form of shelter for human life. With the vast population explosion in underdeveloped countries like India housing for common people is unquestionably the biggest job for us. but the provision of low-cost housing has been a struggle for government as well as inviduals. inspite of in-numurous attemts 'the best' is yet far.. taking a special consideration for low-cost housing..in general, what lacks is maintenance and improper usage of spaces. they can be addressed with a self-sustaing design. suatainability can be attained through increased performence of building and adaptability.
• conventional methods of planning leaves a very minimal amount of common space while daigonal grid pattern can help achiving a system of housing that is interconnected through series of courtyards. • building on diagonal grid helps in welcoming breeze to each unit by creating venturi effect • minimized road network • encourages gatherings with multiple interaction spaces
PERFORMANCE X ADAPTABILITY PRODUCT SUSTAINABILITY
PERFORM ENCE
less surface area - less building material -t less heat gain or loss - enery efficient yet affordable.
ADAPTABILITY
more gathering spaces yet more of personnel space.
NDERSTANDING THE CLUSTER ..
* vast courtyard in the centre for each unit enables its inhabitants to be more social.
*the cluster approach, from all 4 sides could keep spaces alive avoiding dead zones. *diagonal grid arrangement sucks and spreads winds from southwest promoting natural ventilation.
