THESIS ABSTRACT

Slums have always been a solution to the housing problems of low-income groups of society. They are affordable and manage to provide a basic level of shelter to the dwellers. However, the dwellers do not lead to a good quality of life. They do not have access to basic facilities and the spaces are not designed according to human needs. During the pandemic, it was extremely hard for the dwellers to practice social distancing. As a response to these concerns, this thesis aims to reinterpret, re-imagine, and redevelop slums by providing more public spaces and residences that meet human needs.
