MUD Fall studio SoHa , TOD development The project was to propose thea redevelopment on the site into a TOD develpment in relation to the charlotte 2040 comprehensive Plan. The design will response to the existing conditions and the characteristics of the 10/15 minute neighborhoods and the strategies described in the UCVision Plan, we propose rebranding UEP and the land surrounding it as SoHa, an acronym for South of Harris a healthy, diverse and inclusive mixed-use and mixedincome neighborhood centered on communal and active urban open spaces that are linked together by pedestrian and bike oriented infrastructure. The design for SoHa begins by improving street connections. We propose extending the Pedestrian Promenade from UP-Down (University Place Downtown) to Harris Blvd, to McCullough Station and beyond. This will also create improved access to the Mallard Creek Greenway.

Master Plan

After the increase in connectivity of the street grid, the development of different street typologies, the diversity of land uses along them and real estate ownership patterns of the site create opportunities to weave together 5 distinct neighborhoods across the site as well as The Gateway. 5

THE HAMPTON DISTRICT

In the Hampton district, the new street grid would traverse the church property and respectfully wrap around the Hampton Church cemetery. This tree shaded area would be a signature urban open space in a re-imagined, more densely populated mixed-income neighborhood. The housing surrounding the cemetery would be the largest in the neighborhood with a maximum height of seven stories to create a sense of enclosure. Adjacent to the cemetery, where McCullough Drive and East McCullough Drive merge, is a new site for the church. This location will be more pedestrian-oriented and potentially help build the church’s role in the community. While residents of the Hampton neighborhood would have a range of incomes, there is opportunity for affordable housing throughout. The Country Inn and the Microtel Inn should be retained, purchased, and converted to affordable housing.

ULI COMPETITION The CRUX@ Old Oakland The CRUX is a mixuse project with Residential, Retail and Office spaces. The CRUX nearly 300,000 Sq Ft of residential space with 368 total units; 25% of which will be allocated to affordable housing units. Potential residents will have the option to choose from 1- or 2-bedroom layouts. Building one will have views of the historic Jefferson Square Park, with new shops and restaurants lining 7th street, along the ground floor of both apartment buildings and the new office building. Jefferson Square Park will include an all-new community center, with rentable space for exhibits, conferences, or any kind of additional space, all while preserving the park and the amount of open space our site requires.

Applied research course WILKINSON BLVD This applied research course is focused on the broader technical issues of what a contemporary geographic information system (GIS) is and how the system can help us model and better understand the dynamic complexities of a city. The highlighted parcels come as ones that are vacant, zoned in the TOD guidelines, poor structural integrity of buildings on said parcel, or zoned in a manner that would result in an easy redevelopment process. The corridor is not near any major flood plane and the parcels selected are located on, or just off of the Wilkinson Blvd thoroughfare.

CRAFTSPOD DESIGN STUDIO Interior design project: office space CraftsPOD Design Studio is an Urban Design, Architecture and Interior Design studio based in Ahmedabad. We offer unique design solutions integrating Form, Function and Built Environment. We work on a variety of scale; from master planning to details; thus looking at projects holistically. The project is an office space. The composition of 2 materials wood and brass is explored here. I was part of the project for its conceptual design to making working drawings to site management to execution.

INTERNSHIP :Aayam Architects Designing to execution with Rammed Earth The firm consciously practicing vernacular architecture techniques like earth construction, stone construction and wooden roofing systems. We believe that one should feel a joyous, calming transformation in one’s inner self while experiencing the aura of the spaces we design and this can happen only when we are able to connect to our roots. the firm practice technologies that have glimpses of local culture and aesthetics. The project is a farmhouse, composite of vernacular materials and morden design and techniques.

DESIGN THESIS An International Convention Center Large span structures MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) industry has become popular and is growing rapidly worldwide in the 21st century. MICE market and tourism are interlinked. It can be described as where large groups travel and come together for a purpose. This Industry benefits the host country by bringing tourism. It makes the host country more connected to the global market.

SECTION A

The Thesis proposal aims to design an International convention center which can attract prominent events and exhibitions and thereby making Ahmedabad a preferred destination for MICE. Few case studies are taken to understand the programmatic requirements to develop the program and calculate the maximum number of attendees which could define the scale of the project.

The scope of the thesis also includes developing an understanding of longspan structures and implementing them while designing. The project requires large volume, flexible spaces which are achieved through using the long-span structural systems. The analysis of the long-span structural system is conducted through a matrix system—different structural systems are compared based on criteria’s affecting the project.

VIEW FROM ACROSS THE RIVER

The project is a massive step for the City to become a metro city and establish its name in the MICE Market the design approach is taken as the building stands out as an identity for the city. The proposed design for the project is able to achieve a mix working, commercial and social spaces. A project that can attract prominent events and exhibitions and thereby making Ahmedabad a preferred destination for MICE.

STUDIO 9: URBAN INSERT Institute for Performing Art: Puppetry The studio intent was to propose an institute that promotes and conducts puppet shows with an aim to revive the disappearing art and also give the artists acknowledgment. The institute will design and organize puppet shows on different issues in the institute and parts of the city of Udaipur, India. Puppetry can be said as reflection of society, communities life-style and behavior. Therefore puppetry is caricaturized representation of society. As Vernacular architecture is connected to social life of the people of the community. The design approach is to caricaturize the built through emphasizing the vernacular elements that reflect on social interactions.

Collaborative Program with IAAC(Institute for Advanced Architecture of Catalonia), SPAIN IAAC’s proposal aims on the requalification of the wood workshop’s door including a new innovative mechanical system focused on performative design and digital fabrication approaches.

Pulley Mechanism.

1:1 SCALE PROTOTYPE MODEL

Rethinking “what is the door”, which by definition is a barrier of combination of materials, installed to swing or roll in order to close an opening . A door, unlike a wall, is not static, employs movement for translation or rotation, it’s kinetic. The door is divided into three segments and connected with hinges allowing rotational movement. The opening mechanism in this door is by rotating the upper rod, two channels are introduced on either side of the door and a continuous member passing through the bottom of the door is lifted up the channel opening the entire door.

The institute was established by Architect Didi Contractor. It encourages education, with the practical focus on sustainable living, and also practices and teaches neokangra style of architecture. The workshop focused on learning the process of building neo-kangra style by making a 1:1 scale built form on site. Materials focused in this workshop are majorly - adobe bricks and bamboo
