CONNECTIONS 2020 | Abu Dhabi/Dubai,U.A.E | Urban Planning | >4000 sqkm Streets play significant roles in meeting multiple sustainability objectives. This work addresses Abu Dhabi’s and Dubai’s street connectivity at the neighborhood (local) and city (global) scales. It focuses on two parameters of street network analysis: efficiency and centrality. Efficiency is evaluated in terms of directness, noting that network designs that provide short and direct access between origins and destinations are more efficient. Centrality is evaluated using graph theory metrics that enable the identification of high- and low-accessibility locations within networks. Research has shown that network centrality metrics are useful for capturing location advantage, a significant factor for land use distribution. An understanding of centrality and its impacts makes it possible to plan land uses that bring destinations closer to residences, an important factor in environmental, economical, and social sustainability.

Design From Waste 2017 | Abu Dhabi,U.A.E | Commercial | 9,380 sqm Due to the rapid growth in construction in the U.A.E. in the last few decades, the amount of waste accumulated along the process of construction. According to Tadweer Waste Treatment LLC (2015) around 70% of the total solid waste of the U.A.E. consists of Construction and Demolishing waste. The staggering number must be adopted by all parties involved in the development, from the beginning in the design phase, construction, operation until the end of life of the building. Since the U.A.E construction industry lacks systematic solutions in this matter, this study is divided into three phases that will discuss waste minimization in a methodical approach. This research will first look into the principles of waste reduction strategies contributed in the design phase until the construction phase by following the hierarchy in waste minimization starting from reduction, reuse and recycling. Then, by concluding that the maximum production of waste was found to be in building exterior walls and using concrete blocks, and with regards to enhancing energy performance and workability in the construction process of the building’s envelope, it will examine the available waste materials and develop practical solutions in the building’s construction assembly and apply them on new products that could be used in the conventional construction as a substitution to the traditional concrete masonry. Consequently, the third phase will employ the outcomes in the refurbishment of an existing building or in a new building design, or even adding both cases in a new integrated project. Therefore, Masdar Sustainability and Administration Office, as well as the Research and Development building complex, will be used as the architectural case study application of principles discussed in the earlier phases. Keywords: Resource Efficiency, Recycling, Reuse, Waste Minimization.

EQUESTRIAN 2014 | Sharjah,U.A.E | Commercial | 4,100 sqm -symbolism of equestrian cafe’ and exhibition in a cultural way and for people to gather, as it is considered a national sport in the U.A.E. -Functional division and connection: Making division between easily accessible lower public spaces (museum, cafe, shops) and limited-access private spaces (offices, classrooms). -Flow and movement: Forming public space by lifting up the lower part of the building. -create an environmentally friendly landscape and filter harmful conditions.

ARCHITECT’S HOUSE 2014 | Sharjah,U.A.E | Residential | 2,500 sqm -Creating a place full of experiences and places to discover, in harmony with its surroundings and respect to the culture of the local traditions. To achieve this kind of form, a set of functions merged together to establish an interesting place to live in and call home.

ORIGAMI 2014 | Dubai,U.A.E | Commercial | 26,751 sqm -This office tower, breaking the usual dull form of a box that is applied in almost every office building, seeks a new way to overcome challenges encountered during the design process related to regulations and structural constraints, in order to have a more pleasing form for employees to proudly work in and accomplish their goals.

TANGRAM 2015 | Sharjah,U.A.E | Educational | 7,200 sqm - Think of the forms as forms that are growing. There are different sizes and shapes. Just as school students are all sizes and changing each day. Think “energy of growth. In the atrium and circulation space, it is everything that this part of school should be: full of light and places to linger, inspiring spaces, materials and details to look at, and most of all its full of ideas. The central staircase is the main feature of the school, it is the heart of the building, the main meeting place and the first space one encounters upon entering the school. The new configuration of space encouraged new ways of teaching and learning, treating the students as more mature and independent learners. Areas provide independent learning that encourages informality and foster collaboration. The plan displays more variety of spaces than a classroom-based school, with the central stair and atrium offering a place for learning away from the classroom.

REVIVE 2016 | Sharjah,U.A.E | Rehabilitation - The idea was to recover a heritage site located in the heart of Sharjah. Designing one Landbridge and contemporizing the old souq were among the different approaches that were adopted to bring the valuable past of the old city back to life.

AL JIWIN TERRACES 2015 | Dubai,U.A.E | Residential | 31,000 sqm -Al Jiwin terraces view to the lagoons \ 84 two-bedroom+maid’s room apartments\172 sqm floor area. 74 sqm terrace area \ 3.5 meters floor to floor height \ 35% green space area\ Sport fields and children’s playground \ 20 car parkings for visitors.
