At the Museum: The LACIS Museum of Lace and Textiles

There is also an extensive library, which focuses on lace, textiles and costumes and includes more than 10,000 books, patterns, articles and other ephemera, plus a collection of the related tools of the textile crafts.

Rounding out the LMLT experience is a retail store that carries all of the items listed in its online catalog, as well as many one of a kind items and antiques, plus a variety of new and antique lace, vintage clothing, vintage wedding dresses, hats, ribbon and beads.

Free Clinics Offered , Too

If you visit LMLT and have some extra time, you can gain more in-depth knowledge of textiles by participating in a free textile clinic during which museum staff members offer guidance on the identification, restoration, conservation, repair, storage and value of lace, costumes, rugs, quilts and other textiles. Sessions are tentatively planned for the third Monday of each month between 2 and 4 p.m. at the museum. Appointments are not necessary, but call to check for details.
