About Abigail Gray Swartz
Abigail Gray Swartz is the artist behind GrayDayStudio. Her grandmother’s maiden name and Abigail’s love for rainy gray days are the inspiration behind the name of her studio. Abigail (she/her) is an illustrator and a fine artist. Her work features themes of social justice and moments of “daily magic”— celebrating time spent in nature, her love of gardening, and the salty Maine sea air.
Abigail has a BA in fine art and earned her MFA from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia.
Abigail lives and works in Maine with her husband, their two children, some dogs, and give or take some chickens. When she is not making art and running her small business, she is busy in her garden or sewing or knitting something fun and cozy. See more of Abigail’s work here: www.GrayDayStudio.com.

How the Aurora Borealis Helped Establish Monotheism
George Siscoe (1937–2022) of Belfast, Maine
Ezekiel’s bizarre vision in Babylonia was key to unleashing Yahweh from Judah at a time when gods were tied to nations and routinely destroyed along with them. The vision was proof that Yahweh was present with the exiles. Because the vision meets stringent scientific requirements for an auroral display, the aurora may have played a profoundly consequential role in establishing monotheism.

The Black Guitar
Lenice Cicchini
The poems in The Black Guitar comprise a finely wrought medley of discord and harmony, of passion and loss. As much an evocation of the music of longing as it is the instrument itself, the image of the black guitar resonates and haunts. These poems are spiritual in the pure, Rilkean sense—the flight of spirits through the poet’s days.

“Rec’d Your Card…
Hear what book buyers have been saying about us!
“It is encouraging to buy Maine-related books, satisfying to buy from a publisher rooted in Maine, and gratifying to know that I can keep coming back for more. I buy books from every which where, and it is truly refreshing to shop in my own backyard. I’m very pleased to say that Maine Authors Publishing gives our state a good name.”
