C23: The perfect combination of high specifications and miniature size The new C23 series of miniature photoelectric sensors, available in diffuse, reflex, through-beam and background suppression types, offers solutions for a wide range of industries and applications. With IO-Link communication on all PNP-type sensors, the C23 series bridges the gap between machines and the digital world to meet the demands of Industry 4.0.
The C23 series is excellent for conveyor applications, since it combines reduced size with large sensing ranges to detect fast moving items reliably. Diffuse and background suppression types are very good for narrow conveyors, while reflex and through-beam types are perfect for wider conveyors.

IO-Link functionalities with C23 series Data monitoring:

Detection status is monitored and continuously transmitted through IO-Link process data. This data contains both the detection state and the stability of detection (sufficient detection margin). It is possible, therefore, to determine whether the sensor is working too close to its detection threshold, for example due to window contamination. Diagnosis:

The operating state of the sensor is checked. In case of wire break, under-voltage, disturbances on the receiver, sensor malfunction or installation of the wrong sensor, information is provided directly through IO-Link to enable fast repair, maintenance and replacement. Sensitivity and teach:

The sensitivity of the sensor can be adjusted remotely by changing the threshold. Alternatively, the teach function can be used to adapt the threshold to the application. Calibrated sensing ranges ensure easy sensor replacement by uploading the existing sensitivity to the replacement sensor. Light-on/Dark-on selection:

The output switching mode can be selected as light-on or dark-on. A single sensor type is configurable for the various needs of an application. This helps reduce the number of different sensor types required in stock. Switching timer:

The timing of output switching can be configured. Depending on the needs of an application, output switching can be delayed or the duration stretched.

3 different modes are selectable depending on the application needs: “Normal”, “Fast” and “Fine”. “Normal” mode is a good balance of speed and precision. In “Fast” mode, speed is higher and in “Fine” mode precision is higher.

Detection events are counted. By registering the number of detections, it is possible to calculate the speed or number of parts. The counter can be reset by means of a unique IO-Link message. Temperature:

The internal temperature of the sensor is measured continuously, which provides an indication about the ambient temperature in the application. Moreover, the maximum temperature measured is saved for diagnosis and preventive maintenance purposes.

c23 FULL INOX: INDUCTIVE SENSORS in FLAT, MINIATURE SIZE The new, flat C23 is ideal for applications where space is scarce but long operating distances are still indispensable. With this sensor’s all-metal housing, applications do not need to pull any punches. Shock and vibration can do no harm to this little problem solver, thanks to its Condet technology and stainless steel housing. Installation is very simple from the front of the device using the two drill holes. Thanks to Contrinex ASIC technology, the new C23 is highly accurate and has an IOLink interface. This gives the customer various parameterization options, such as switching between NO and NC operation or programming an ON or OFF delay. The miniature housing size and IP 69K rating allow installation in numerous and varied applications. Measurements are transmitted through an analog voltage output. C55: LONG DISTANCE MEASUREMENT WITH TIME-OF-FLIGHT TECHNOLOGY Time-of-flight (TOF) technology calculates distance by measuring the time light takes to ‘fly’ from the sensor to the target and back to the sensor. Thanks to this technology, C55 distance measuring sensors provide long ranges with excellent precision. Measurements are transmitted through an analog output. The sensors also offer a second output for a switching window, which is defined by teaching. The same TOF technology is used for a long range background suppression type with 2 independently settable outputs.

CONTRINET: THE POWERFUL RFID NETWORK FOR LOW AND HIGH FREQUENCY Users of industrial RFID can maximize the flexibility of their systems with the powerful ContriNet RS485 network from Contrinex. ContriNet not only allows up to 31 read/write modules (RWMs) to be connected to an industrial fieldbus, but also the mixing of low and high frequency RWMs in the same network. In addition, since all Contrinex high frequency transponders are ISO/IEC 15693 compatible, equipment from different manufacturers can be combined.

Threaded RWMs are available with S12 connector and RS485 output. The range includes rugged all-metal RWMs with an impervious sensing face and high-temperature RWMs for up to +125째C (257째F). Interfaces are provided for most industrial fieldbuses and USB.
application: Washing station The highly flexible ContriNet network is a powerful tool in the hands of RFID system integrators for smart factories.
In the harsh environment of a washing station, RFID transponders and read/write modules are exposed to hot water, mechanical shocks, corrosive chemicals and high-pressure jetting. Despite these challenges, identification systems must operate continuously with high reliability. Typically, RFID tags are mounted on the part carriers. On arrival at the washing station, information from the tag is used to select the correct washing cycle for the part type and process. ConIdent advantages ConIdent passive tags require no power source and minimal maintenance. Rugged, low frequency tags with all-metal housings are sealed to IP 67 or IP 69K to resist water penetration and can withstand temperatures up to 180째C (+356째F). Their extended sensing range reduces the risk of mechanical damage. Read/write units interface directly with customer control systems.

The new distribution center joins Paris and Singapore to become the third Contrinex logistics hub. This global spread has been designed to ensure the ready availability of Contrinex products wherever customers are in the world.
Canada and Mexico can count on delivery times of between 24 and 48 hours, while delivery times of 3 to 4 days apply for South America. To ensure that this highly efficient logistics operation always keeps the personal touch, Dallas has a team of 3 people dedicated to receiving, picking, packing and shipping Contrinex products.
