Welcome to Maitland Taste 2017 at The Levee, Central Maitland. This year marks Maitland’s 9th annual celebration of great food, wine and produce from around the Region. We invite you to take your time wandering throughout the event and discover the range of food, stalls and activities on offer. Maitland Taste is pleased to welcome Paul West, the host of popular television program River Cottage Australia as guest presenter at this year’s event. Paul is an experienced chef and farmer with ties to the Hunter Valley, loves seeing good food go from the paddock to the plate, which makes him the perfect guest for Taste. You can catch Paul at the following times and locations:

Taste BBQ Backyard Savour the aroma of succulent meats smoking and barbequing in the Taste BBQ Backyard. Hosted by Heritage Parc, the Backyard is an ode to barbeque, food smoking and our outdoor lifestyle. Learn tips and tricks from the experts at BBQ’s Galore and Rare Meats on meat smoking, meat rubs and barbequing, with free tastings (11.00am – 2.00pm) throughout each day. Paul West will also be popping in on Saturday at around 2.15pm for a meet and greet session.
Cider and Sliders Bar Hunter Valley’s Tilse’s Apple Truck Cider has paired up with local burger gurus Gourmet BBQ to bring you the Taste Cider and Sliders Bar, celebrating the heavenly combination of crisp cider with fresh flavoursome sliders, cooked to perfection on the spot. Kick back in this speciality dining area whilst enjoying live music from the pop up performance area nearby, and enjoy the sights of the festival. 12
The Pumpkin Precinct Presented by Slow Food Hunter Valley, the Pumpkin Precinct is an area within Taste dedicated to the local produce available in our region. The Pumpkin Precinct features a pop up produce market run by local farmers, pumpkin scones and ravioli stand, seating area, live music, free live art classes (three per day) and kids cooking workshops, (two per day). Paul West will visit the precinct at around 12.15pm on Sunday after his Kitchen Stage cooking demonstration for a meet and greet session.

Keep an eye out for ravioli making demonstration through the day at the Ravioli Station! Art classes are free, kids cooking workshops are by gold coin donation. Bookings essential – see staff at the Ravioli Station for registration. 13
Kids Patch
Kids Patch features some great free activities suitable for kids of all ages, including: • Upcycled mud kitchens and cubby houses • Face painting • Kids craft activities, held from 10.30 am to 3.30pm each day. • Seedling planting with Feedback Organic Recovery, where kids can create their own newspaper seedling planter to take home. Regular sessions throughout the day. Located at Feedback Organic right next to the Kids Patch.
Pop Up Library This year’s event features the wonderful new addition of the Pop Up Library, a relaxed space provided by Maitland Library. The Pop Up Library will feature cooking and gardening books from the library’s collections for you to read, as well as fruit and veggie shaped bookmarks, story telling for kids, and a competition to win a signed copy of the River Cottage Australia Cook Book by Paul West.

Good Food Union pride themselves on not only understanding where their ingredients come from but also ensuring that they have been grown using sustainable practices. All meat used to create their Angus Beef burgers and steak sandwiches is grass fed, hormone and preservative free and the vegetables are sourced from within NSW using sustainable agricultural processes, and many are certified organic.
