Welcome to Maitland Taste 2018 at The Levee, Central Maitland. This year mark’s Maitland’s 10th annual celebration of great food, wine and produce from around the region. We invite you to take your time wandering throughout the event and discover the range of food, stalls and activities on offer. Maitland Taste is pleased to welcome chef Matt Golinski to this year’s event. Well known as one of the original team members of popular ‘Ready, Steady, Cook’ TV series, Matt has worked as an executive chef at some of Queensland’s leading restaurants. He is now a proud food ambassador for the Gympie region in Queensland. Passionate about creating cuisine using fresh, local and seasonal produce, Matt will feature on our Kitchen Stage in conjunction with Slow Foods Hunter Valley, to showcase the fabulous produce that the Maitland and Hunter Valley region has to offer. You can also catch him in the Prestige Design Joinery shipping container pop up kitchen offering up tasty morsels to try.

Kitchen Stage Garden Stage The Garden Stage will host a range of expert led sessions covering all things to do with gardening and food production. This year will see local permaculture and biodynamic farmer, Mark Brown of Purple Pear Farm, talking about how to get your garden growing from the ground up. He will be demonstrating how to create the perfect compost and worm farm that your vegetables will love you for! You can also catch Emily from Mossy Mountain on stage talking about ethical food production and her experience in farming free range Berkshire Pigs. Dave from Feedback Organic Recovery is back again this year on Saturday only, to chat about sustainable urban farming, and how you can run your own plot from home. Local garden guru’s Heritage Gardens Nursery will be discussing the delights of growing (and enjoying) edible plants and gardens. DRAMA CALMER Drama Calmer encourages children to tap into their feelings and intuition through playful yoga and meditation. Join in on one of the free sessions happening at 10.00am, 12.00pm and 2.00pm each day.
TAFE NSW DESIGNER CUBBY HOUSES A special collaboration with the Interior Design students of Newcastle Tafe, this exciting project presentsthree incredible cubby houses that will appeal to kids and adults alike. Kids will enjoy exploring the sensory herb gardens, making some noise with upcycled instruments and creating masterpieces on chalk board walls.

Prestige Design Joinery's work is inch perfect, unique and built with care to last a lifetime. Their Rutherford workshop takes a custom approach to commercial fit outs, kitchen and custom cabinetry and joinery, build alterations, bathroom renovations and full interior design service. The Pumpkin Precinct
Presented by Slow Food Hunter Valley, the Pumpkin Precinct is an area within Taste dedicated to the local produce available in our region. As part of the Pumpkin Precinct, Slow Food Hunter Valley are presenting the Earth Markets which is a fantastic opportunity to stock up on fresh, locally grown produce. Operating between 10:00am – 4:00pm each day. The Pumpkin Precinct will also feature cooking demonstrations of tortilla cones and gramma and date scones all sustainably sourced from local produce. There is live music, free kids cooking workshops and lots more.

Make sure to stop by the Kitchen Stage area and see the incredible, large scale vertical garden that has been created especially for Taste.
FLORAL INSTALLATIONS #MYMAITLAND You will find some amazing floral installations around the festival, created by local floral artists Flannel Billy and Holly Howe Designs. These are ideal locations to take a photo, and don’t forget to #mymaitland on your next social post.
