WHAT IS AN ARCHIVE ? | SEM IV

Gaitore Ki Chhatriya, Jaipur Mentors : Anuj Daga, Rupali Gupte, Kalpit Ashar PROJECT : The studio methodology this semester seeks to draw on the studio readings, ‘When is space’ exhibition, the city of Jaipur and experiences of the Cenotaphs of Gaitore to produce a semi fictional narrative that addresses the question, ‘What is an Archive?’ This narrative helped us to develop the programme for the archive and explore its spatial manifestations. Two questions to be addressed here were ARCHIVE OF? And ARCHIVE AS? This project stresses on the necessity of fiction in architecture and the role of projection.

ARCHIVE OF ORAL STORIES , ARCHIVE AS A JOURNEY.

Bhavsar Bhuvan , Kanadivali Mentors: Ravindra Punde, Dipti Bhaindarkar, Sabaa Giradkar, Arun Kale 150

RE-DESIGNING FACADE The concept of ‘Resource Audit’ was introduced where we studied distinct building types. The framework was devised to understand building orientation, envelope materiality, energy and water cycle within each chosen project. The aim was to study the material composition and technical details of the elements like walls, roof, openings, shading elements, which together form the envelope of the building.

Mumbai University Campus, Kalina Santacruz Mentors: Ravindra Punde, Dipti Bhaindarkar, Sabaa Giradkar PROJECT : An exploration needed to be undertaken of how the given program goes along with the existing context of the site. Among three given sites, I chose the University site as it involve people of different cultural background, so to counter them as a whole was the challenge I took for this project.

Observations of the site: 1. University as a family of strangers

CONCEPTUAL MODELS : 2. Idea of Flexibility
