About me
My name is Maja Lulek and I am graphic designer and illustrator. I was born in 1991 in Poland. I graduated from High School of Fine Arts in Bielsko-Biała and Academy of Fine Arts in Katowice. I have always been interested in popular culture (especially in British popular culture) and I am very often inspired by it. My biggest love always were books and illustrations. During my Bachelor thesis I started to to be interested in comic books.

The Adventure of the Cardboard Box | comic book
My Bachelor thesis main topic was to to create the visual interpretation of one of Sherlock Holmes’ adventures. I wanted to present the deduction process because I have never seen among the illustrations in books or in comic books. After the long reserach and thousands of sketches I decided to make a comic book. But not a ‘normal, classic’ comic book. I choose square format because it could help me to show how Sherlock thinks. I cut some pages or folded it. I also added some semitransparent ones that present the hero’s attention to the details. Of course I also wanted to show the Victorian character of this story.

Ahmad Tea London | advertising campaign The advertising campaign was ones of the topic of the design for marketing workshop at Acedemy of Fine Arts. Ahmad Tea London is not very popular in Poland, that is why I decided to make an advertisign campaign about this product. I wanted people to notice that it is produced by an old company and has a traditional British taste. The slogan is “prawdziwie brytyski” which means “real British”. It can be real British taste, or smell or something else. Customer can decide himself how to end this
slogan. I also put the reference to very popular British icons such as British icon as Alice in Wonderland, Sherlock Holmes and Q from James Bond.
