CHILD HEALTH NOW IN ACTION 2 YEARS OF ACHIEVEMENTS 2012 - 2014
Objective In El Salvador the focus of the CHN campaign has been on newborns and their mothers. For every 10 children who die before their first year, 6 are less than 28 days, and of these, 3 out of 4 newborn deaths occur in the first week of life.
Expected results
STRENGHTEN Citizen participation of young people and local actors for the welfare of children.
PROMOTE Reduction of neonatal mortality by strenghthening the quality of health services.
ADVOCACY Public policy in favor of children and pregnancy survival rate.
ACHIEVEMENTS Seven community foundations formed by children and youth municipal members also Intersectoral Comittees, which have been trained in public services monitoring and they are conducting advocacy for maternal and child health.
ACHIEVEMENTS • Health personnel capacity building through the development of workshops to manage technical guidelines on maternal and child care, to improve health services.

We are part of an intersectoral and interinstitutional team (Alianza Neonatal de El Salvador), a national consultation team for making decisions regarding the reduction of neonatal mortality as part of the fulfillment of the “National Strategic Plan for the Reduction of Maternal, Perinatal and Neonatal Mortality�, 2011-2014.
ACHIEVEMENTS
We have the support of experts teams that express their oppinion on progress, setbacks and challenges of maternal and child health, who are conducting research on morbidity and mortality major causes.
ACHIEVEMENTS We have the support of professional network of journalist and mass media that are aware, challenged, and committed on promoting children’s issues to families, communities, state and civil society, so it can be included in public debate.
ACHIEVEMENTS Advocacy was performed in the adoption of the “Law for the Promotion, Protection and Support of Breastfeeding�, where World Vision El Salvador major contribution was inclusive language with gender, and the introduction of best interests of children principle contained in the Convention on the Rights of the Child and Law on Protection of Children and Adolescents (LEPINA).
