“Get Inspired This Father’s Day — Meet 10 of Our Favorite Local Dads,” by Lotus Abrams
“I enjoyed the article featuring local dads. I want to thank you for featuring men of color, gay dads and dads of children with disabilities. A few years ago, I had stopped reading Marin Magazine, as it seemed to perpetuate a lack of diversity, but if you continue to promote diversity and refreshing new viewpoints, I will give it a read!” —Elaine Blakeley, San Anselmo
“Homelessness in a Pandemic: How Marin County Is Coping With a Growing Problem,” by Kirsten Jones Neff
“I’m concerned your last article on homelessness in Marin did not include a single comment from a person experiencing homelessness. I think your magazine should follow up with a story from our perspective. Your reporters met many of our camp leaders. The fact that their perspectives were left out of the story is not balanced. We’d like to do a follow-up story that gives people with lived experience of homelessness an opportunity to speak candidly.” —Robbie Powelson, Marin County Homeless Union

“Bridge the Gap College Prep Raises $600,000 to Support Marin City’s College Hopefuls,” by Donna Berry Glass
“Thank you for the amazing coverage, Marin Magazine. We are so grateful for the tremendous support from our community for our One Amazing Community virtual fundraiser. We raised $1.1 million for 10,000 Degrees students and programming!” —Caroline Silverstein, Chief Development Officer at 10,000 Degrees (via LinkedIn)
“16 Impactful and Influential Eco-Warriors Making a Difference for the Environment in 2021,” by Kirsten Jones Neff
“Very proud to see Amy, our co-owner and namesake, included in Marin Magazine's list of "Impactful and Influential EcoWarriors Making a Difference for the Environment in 2021.” According to Amy, ‘It’s not enough for us to just be better than the bad actors; the goal is to be a truly sustainable and regenerative business in all areas.’” —Amy’s Kitchen (via LinkedIn)
“Color and Light: The Life and Work of Bay Area Artist Sam Francis,” by Lotus Abrams
“A gorgeous piece on Sam Francis and his current show up in Mill Valley in Marin Magazine by Lotus Abrams. I'm quoted in it. Sam was a fabulist. The full story of his so-called ‘plane crash’ is revealed in my biography, Light on Fire: The Art and Life of Sam Francis. And yes, Sam and Dad are buried catty-corner from one another in the most charming graveyard in Olema.” —Gabrielle Selz (via Facebook)
“Celebrating the Bay Area’s Most Powerful and Influential Women,” by Donna Berry Glass
“This is probably as close as I would ever get to Madam Vice President Kamala Harris.
Thank you so much to @betterchicago and @marinmagazine for such kind consideration. I’m so humbled to be considered remotely as close as the women on this list.” —Nooshin Behroyan, Founder and CEO, Paxon Energy & Infrastructure Services

We found our May cover model! Or, rather, she found us. Melanie Kessler, owner of Smooth Operations in Corte Madera, walked into her physical therapist’s office and spotted the issue. Kessler says she was pleasantly surprised when she saw the photo of herself from over 20 years ago featured on our cover. She was modeling a signature red gown from Lily Samii’s 1999 Holiday/Resort collection. Find our May cover story, “How Couture Designer Lily Samii Built an International Fashion House From a Small Marin Boutique,” by Theresa Rodriguez, in print and online at marinmagazine.com. (We listed the location as Stinson Beach, but the photoshoot actually took place in Bodega Bay, according to Kessler.)
