Role of community architecture Santiago, Chile

The 2017 AIA Baltimore Travel fellowship funded research on community architecture in Santiago, Chile. All projects studied are located in different barrios and neighborhoods where the spaces are appropriated by the people with the space making it multifunctional through the various groups of a community. The impact of the projects with community influence has a role in the socio-economic dynamic of a neighborhood and Santiago as a whole.

Which aspects of community based architecture impact development of different socio economic areas? The impact of each project has a influence on its local community but has a relationship with Santiago as a whole. People give a city its character and culture, with architecture focused in accommodating a multitude of communities and groups stronger relationships of socio-economic development can be formed.
