Mary Cairncross ecological park

Sunshine Coast Council is proposing to establish an ecological park in the hinterland on 65 hectares of land adjoining Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve. The project provides an opportunity to expand our accessible green spaces by creating a unique destination for the whole community, inspired by the beautiful natural environment of the Sunshine Coast.

An ecological park is a type of park that will support nature-based recreation, education, and research, whilst protecting, celebrating, and restoring the sites inherent environmental, natural, and cultural heritage values.

The ecological park is a long term project aiming to restore natural ecosystems over many years and decades, allowing the community to be part of the restorative process.

The Sunshine Coast ecological park project has three community engagement stages throughout the planning phase. Thank you to everyone in the community who has previously contributed feedback which has helped shape the Draft Master Plan. If you haven't yet seen the previous findings, you can access them at the web site: https://www.sunshinecoast.qld.gov.au/ Council/Planning-and-Projects/MajorRegional-Projects/Sunshine-CoastEcological-Park

As part of Stage 3, the Draft Master Plan will be available to view online from Monday 6Monday 20 March 2023. During this time, Council welcomes your feedback to help refine the draft Master Plan before being finalised and considered by Council..

Please provide your feedback using the survey tab or provide written feedback via email to the project team.

I am happy to advise that the playground at Cedar Court in Maleny has been completed.
