ABOUT ME

In 2007, I graduated with a bachelor's degree from architecture program, Mahasarakham University, Thailand. Then I studied in Landscape Architecture Master's degree, Chulalongkorn University then graduated in 2009.

During my studies in the past, I was interested in the design and development of ancient cities. currently, I am studying in urban

community planning. I use my past experiences from research and design combined with landscape architecture to one day improve communities and the quality of life those people who live in them.

SUNIDA CHINNAWONG MCP, MLA

I have a passion for designing and creating. Any community inspires me to look at their characteristics and the environment in which they belong to see how they succeeded or failed in terms of sustainable design.

PLANMAKING WORKSHOP | FALL 2016

Quadrant two of Downtown Georgetown, bounded by Main, Broadway, Washington and North Mulberry Streets is arguably one of the most important districts in the entire downtown - thus demanding a thoughtful site program. It contains functions essential to the smooth operation of not just downtown, but the entire county including the Scott County Court Clerk building, County Sheriff's office, Mayor’ s office, jail and County Attorney’ s office. These important administrative functions need to be preserved and will likely benefit from new improvements to the immediate surrounding area.

transparency to enhance the visualization of a surface for analysis or graphical display.

GIS PROJECTS

A MICRO VIEW OF FOOD DESERTS IN THE MILL CREEK VALLEY, CINCINNATI, OHIO | STUDIO CLASS | FALL 2017 INTRODUCTION:

The USDA’ s Economic Research Service defines food deserts as areas having limited access to supermarkets, supercenters, grocery stores, or other sources of healthy and affordable food. Two important factors are income and access (USDA,2017).

1. Low income - Tracts with a poverty rate of 20% or higher, or tracts with a median

family income less than 80% of median family income for the state or metropolitan area.

2. Low access - Tracts in which at least 500 people or 33% of the population lives farther than 1 mile (urban) or 10 miles (rural) from the nearest supermarket Solution:

where each current grocery store exists

pinpoint the areas that do not have access

whom it services within a mile radius

use current zoning to find suitable locations to service these people.

CONCLUSION:

Three locations are chosen for the

new supermarkets (Save-a-lot, Kroger,

Meijer, or other) using the mixed zoning designation or commercial designation

College Hill (Hamilton Avenue) Winton Place (Winton Ridge Ln) North Fairmount (Cummins St)

Together, these would almost completely

fill the gap in food access that is currently affecting many residents in Cincinnati.

Placing these markets would take zero zoning changes

THE BOND

URBAN LAND INSTITUTE COMPETITION PROJECT, CINCINNATI, OHIO | FALL 2017 INTRODUCTION:

Two weeks design competition project with ULI (Urban Land Institute, Cincinnati) to develope and designed to bring life

back to the center of the Bond Hill Business District, the Bond is located just north of the Norwood lateral, on Reading Road. Bond Hill is a historic neighborhood of the Cincinnati area, and still contains many unique features, rich with under-

appreciated character. Residents of the neighborhood were interviewed for their thoughts on the future of Bond Hill, as well as the characteristics they felt described their community.

Surrounding the plaza, a mix of local and anchor tenants inhabit the ground floor level. Reading Road, being a state thoroughfare is heavily trafficked. Above retail, a mix of 94 residential units are provided. The parking provided would be sufficient for residents within the new construction, with leftover to serve a percentage of the retail spaces. This would also result in the use of more on-street parking spots surrounding the business district, which is currently underutilized.

By observing the current local businesses, and cataloging architectural details existing in the neighborhood, informed decisions were made on which buildings and businesses would contribute most to the future of Bond Hill.

Broken up into two phases, the planned development would first involve three new construction buildings of mixed use located on the East side of Reading road. Upon their completion, a second phase would begin to complete the project with three more new construction buildings as well as the renovations of existing buildings on existinf parcels. THE BOND, CINCINNATI, OHIO | URBAN LAND INSTITUTE COMPETITION PROJECT (ULI) | FALL (2017) | Page 10

The Bond is designed with a familiar local material palette. Glass storefront is used to provide transparency on the ground floor for retail, while the residential is clad in brick, relating to the surrounding architectural context.

Improvements to the surrounding infrastructure would include tree-lined sidewalks, as well as landscape beds filled with a mixture of native plants requiring minimal upkeep in

the plaza space and green spaces sprinkled throughout the development. Two larger green The design incorporates a plaza space outfitted with the existing living wall, outdoor dining space

for new food/service tenants, outdoor amenities and workspace for a small business incubator, and water fountains for children to play in on hot summer days.

spaces were preserved on each end of the site, providing a transition from the surrounding neighborhoods into the district, and resulting in a cadence of outdoor pathways and nodes to connect the development to its surrounding context.

Designed to reawaken the life, art, and business of this historic neighborhood, by performing as a beating heart for the community, The Bond invites residents to rediscover their neighborhood’ s potential, allowing them to take part in it’ s growth, and begin the celebration of community and culture in their own home.

Retail and incubator office space lines the outdoor plaza to foster a lively center of business and leisure. The design

preserves the public right of way to invite local residents into the development and can be utilized as a neighborhood

farmer’ s market on weekends, providing fresh and healthy food for the Bond Hill community. The Plaza acts as a beating heart in the center of the neighborhood, reawakening the life and culture of Bond Hill.

PARKING ANALYSIS

WILMINGTON, OHIO | SUMMER - FALL 2017 OVERVIEW:

This project was began developing since my Summer COOP with Clinton County Regional Planning (CCRPC), Wilmington, Ohio. I was done

with the analysis and design part, then combined them on the report before submitted to my supervisor. It is such a massive project that I never did it before. I thought I could handle and finish it in one month, but it took a long time to do the analysis part and finding the current data from ArcGIS and surveying around downtown. I collected the data as much as I can put them on the report and analysis. The Downtown Wilmington Parking Blocks Study has been conducted by the Planning and Development Department in order assess current parking

inventory and usage. This assessment provides parking insights and will guide future public reinvestment to the emerging commercial district

in the downtown area. The study conducted in response to Wilmington experiencing high retail occupancy rates, which triggered an increase in parking variances granted by the Board of Zoning Appeals.

LANDSCAPE ARCTECTURE ACADEMIC (2008) DESIGN GUIDELINE NAKORN CHAMPA SRI AREA, THAILAND

DESIGN GUIDELINE NAKORN CHAMPA SRI AREA, THAILAND MASTER OF LANDSCAPE ARCHITECTURE | 2008 OVERVIEW:

My research focused on the design and development of the important ancient city in Mahasarakham Province of “Nakhon Champasri.” It presents a plan in response to the area’ s history and importance to develop it as a major tourist attraction and historical study site. In doing the research, the physical aspects of the area were first studied, as well as the conditions of the present community in the Nakhon Champasri area.

The concepts of archeological site conservation were also mastered. These principles and concepts were then applied in the development and the conservation of important historical sites, while sustaining the coexistence of the community

and Nakhon Champasri. Indeed, once the area has been improved and developed, the community is to be encouraged to
