AAMU ENROLLMENT TRENDS 

AAMU Enrollment has increased each of the past 5 consecutive years. Fall headcount enrollment has grown by 18.5% since Fall 2012.

AAMU First-Time Freshmen Enrollment has increased each of the past 5 consecutive years. Fall First-Time Freshmen enrollment has grown by 58.47%.

PRESIDENTIAL COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT BUS TOUR 

The President and First Lady visits over 50 high schools and several prospective scholarship recipients throughout the state of Alabama.     

       

AAMU’S MASTER PLAN

***Secured a $96 million dollar financial package to begin phase 1 which includes new ~600 bed student housing and renovations to Thigpen Residence Hall and the McCaleb Building and debt restructuring***

 Completed ~5.8 million in upgrades, repairs, and renovations  Equipped all residence halls with flat screen televisions that can be used for both Digital Signage and delivery of television programs  Acquired new furniture for Residence Halls

GOAL ACCOMPLISHED  As we move “INTO THE FUTURE” we have surpassed the initial goal of $16.25 million by 52.5%.  We’ve exceeded our revised goal of $22,187,500 by 11%.


PROMOTING AWARENESS TO AAMU

• President launched a newsletter entitled “A&M News for You” in September • The newsletter promotes awareness of the University and its activities to regional, national and international audiences • Conversations with the President – informal conversations with selected faculty and staf

VIRGINIA CAPLES LIFELONG LEARNING INSTITUTE  Virginia Caples Lifelong Learning Institute o 2nd HBCU (Hampton University 1st) o 1st Land-Grant Institution o Purpose – to advance the quality of life for one of our richest resources, Alabama’s older adult population. o The extension service’s “Successful Aging Initiative” is nationally recognized and has already served more than 12,000 people  The Alabama Cooperative Extension System’s Urban Afairs and New Nontraditional Programs component continues to impact thousands within the 67 counties of Alabama.


FRESHMAN ACADEMY SERVICE LEARNING  Freshman Academy Initiative 

Service and Learning Communities and Volunteerism  

Aims to educate AAMU students on the need to willfully serve the community in conjunction with classroom learning. Orientation 102 students completed over 8,000 hours of service work

AAMU Students, Alabama Cooperative Extensions, and the City of Huntsville Reap Harvest of Community Garden More than 30 Alabama A&M University freshman service learning students gathered the first crops from their gardens in the nearby Edmonton Heights community’s James Crawford Park.

Coordinated a free lawn care service Raising Men Lawn Care Service Cut lawns for the elderly, disabled and single mothers He was featured on USA Today, the Today Show, Fox News, and Briggs and Strattion Engines

“The union of an ordinary yard maintenance service and the commitment to establish an inspiring program to keep our young men and boys (young women and girls) on a positive path while learning and understanding their value in society,” he wrote. “This has been my vision since I started with the first yard.”
