About. “Praise tiny things you did for the day” This has been my all time favourite phrase that motivates & makes me proceed in any work. Since day 01 of my Architecture course , I think I, should stand unique from my batch. It has worked in either ways, I stood Unique - who had the most creative idea in the batch & vice versa.This is the time when I turned - None of the student in the batch had the dumbest idea like mine. In that way I am Unique. Being one of the Proactive student’s in the college, I took opportunities , took responsibilities and have tried to learn the best from it. I think four years of Architecture has taught me theoretical knowledge and moral values of life. And my Objective as an Intern is to stay commited to the work assigned & see how theories work practically on site.

I’m Malini Singaravelu architecture student from Chennai Practice Experience Worked as an Intern in CMDA for the Redevelopement of George Town, Chennai. Volunteered in Master’s project on the topic “ Pedestrain Pathways of Mylapore” in Mylapore ,Chennai Worked along with PG students for generating Master Plans for Shollinghur, in Ranipet district. Volunteered in “Paari Design Studios” in the construction of a farm house in Thiruvallur. Worked in few Construction drawings for Parvathy Hospital, Chrompet, Chennai Active participation in NASA | ANDC | LBT competitions. Worked as an Intern in “Kural”- Reasearch based organisation that rejenuates old crafts & works in incorporating modern ideas using old crafts. Attended a workshop on working with cob | lime | stones. Attended a workshop in NIT Trichy on “ Lime Plastering”. Taking parttime classes for students opting for Hindi private exams in Dakshin Bharat Hindi Prachar Sabha.

Pride Square | The living memorial Location :

Pride Square is a memorial that is planned to stand in The Marina Bay, that holds

memorials of great leaders who are resting in peace. The Pride Square more symbolises the Pride of the LGBTQ+ community, bringing a space for them in the hotspot of Chennai, encourages more public to know about their community, spread positive vibes and love towards the community, respect all genders with love and care. Pride Square is a living memorial which is purposefully made moving to embrace the concept strongly. A memorial for the upcoming and a positive note of spreading a hope in the near future makes it more lively. So I have achieved this living memorial via “KINETIC MOVING FAÇADE” . It’s a simple technique that creates a huge impact in the façade like little love towards everyone can create a huge impact in one’s life. Variations in materials and colours have been used to show the Unity and Variety of people living in the same nation. Use of Glass, Steel, Pneumatic Fabric, Rainbow Colours, Landscaping features etc all collaborate to embrace the LGBTQ+ community. The Pride Square counters a Movie theatre that projects video’s of the Carvings in temples that encourage LGBTQ+. Its comprises an Amphitheatre where people could perform small events and have celebrations. It also has a colourful seating area with pneumatic roofs which becomes a gathering spot for people. The Kinetic Façade structure comprise a beautiful installation where stills and cut outs of the achievements of the LGBTQ+ community people have achieved are pinned. People access it through the ramp. The overall Pride Square gives a vibrant and happy emotion and expecting a change in the minds of the public people to respect and treat everyone equally.

allikaranai is a neighbourhood and a residential area in south Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India. Located in proximity to the IT industry in Old Mahabalipuram Road, Chennai's central business districts and the automobile hub in GST road has attracted more population to Pallikaranai in the 2000s. Pallikaranai became a part of the Chennai Corporation in July 2011. Pallikaranai is surrounded by vanous natura lands, water resources ponds, lakes and different varieties of birds. Palikaranai wetlands a fresh water swamp adjacent to the Bay of Bengal situated in south Chennai with a geographical area of 80 kms. in 2007, a major portion of the Pallikaranai marshland was declared a reserve forest area and brought under the Tambaram range of the Forest department. The swamp is helping in charging the aquifiers of the region. It is one of the last few remaining natural ecosystems in the city of Chennai. The swamp is helpful charging the aquifers of the region. This blessing in fact has become a curse to the local residents. There are many unauthorized, private water supply companies like WC, JK, RKS Balaji water packaging etc., backed by politicians, course and government officials who sumps out gallons of water from wells and bores from the swamp surrounding like Ambal Nagar for commercial distribution within the city limits branding it as drinking water. The untreated water is being pumped out from abandoned wells filled with filth and then filled in tankers or cans for distribution.

AIM The shrinking of the mashland has created a ripple effect on the areas surrounding the marshiand. Encroachments over the years has eaten to the marshland over the last 2- 3 decades. Design of buildings on a marshand is the basic challenge . Aiming to design a sustainable campus where n they protect the marshland ard amive concepts to protect it and make it a public interactive space.

CARGOTECTURE T

he use of containers as a building material has grown in populanty over the past several years due to their wherent strength, wide availability, and relatively low expense. Homes have also been bult with containers because they are seen by whom as more eco-friendly than traditional building mateials such as brick and cement. Many structures based on shipping contaners have already been constructed. and their uses, sues, locations and appearances vary widely Whle sustanablity plays a key role in the drive and the recent boom behind shipping contaIner archtecture, there are numerous accompanying benefits that make this trend the housing solution of the future. Firstly, shipping containers are affordable. Secondly, the speed at which container homes are built is significantly higher than any other construction method. Thirdly, shipping contaner architecture allows for creativity and individual interior and exterior design solutions. APHIDOIDEA plans to re-adapt the used shipping container as core building elements, and to implement Sustainable strategies to educate its visitors and users about "green" building Utilizing approximately practices 65 shipping containers, the contextual response forces the architecture to provide an open public plaza on the ground level with an exhibition hall and outdoor amphitheater. The facility also plans to house learning classrooms as well as offices to support the staff in teaching the community about the valuable strategies of sustainable green living.

CONCEPT

CHANGING THE SHAPE OF CONTAINER The library space & designed in such a way, the containers act as pillers. I have used or expanded the rectagular box to piller shape and used the wide space for other activity within the library.

MOVABLE VETIVER PANELS This uses the aromatic vetiver grass thatch mats as infill. A simple drip irrigation pipe is used to wet the panels in the hot dry summer; lowening temperatures and humidifying air passing into the interior by evaporative cooling. The panels can be opened or closed depending on the degree of climatic protection required for the interior. The earth toned panels also filter the abundant ambient dust prevalent in hot dry summers The landscape plan uses vetiver cultivation for soil stabilization at the terrace edges and also for future use in making woven thatch mats I have used in places of openings and courtyard spaces to give the cooling effect. The settlements were caste biased and there was inequality spreading amongst the upcoming generation. So this Nool-Aham brings people together and the factor which pulls people is books that opens a way for a bright future...

Sports Club

he Cultural Centre is located next to Semmozhi Poonga in Chennai. It was designed in such a way it get its maximum energy from Natural resources. Its opted various natural lighting techniques & methods. It has spaces to refreshing Canteen | Workshop Area | Amphi theatre | Conference Hall and Admin Office. The workshop areas are segregated only by walls, that are positioned and inclined according to the sun direction and timing of the user.

he Sport Club was designed in the interior of Chennai’s one of the hotspot - Kodambakkam. Its specially for the Slum children of that area who didnt have the capacity to afford to Private Clubs. Its has a basket Ball half court | Gymnastics | Yoga Centre | Indoor Auditorium. In concern of the basic necessity for children, and recreational facility for the people belonging to the slum, this Idea was proposed.

CONCEPTUAL IDEOLOGIES

Primary School Shollinganallur The Primary School was planned to propose in Shollinganallur, near a waterbody.Children spend their maximum time in their school than in home. So I thought of giving the emotional connect they get when are at home. So these blocks give an enclosure and sense of safety. The blocks have more solids and voids to obtain the maximum natural lighting possible. The roofing typo is also to give passive methods of comfort.
