INTRODUCTION Twenty years ago, conscious residents began to understand the benefits from harnessing energy from the Sun to help reduce their energy costs and carbon footprint.

As today’s building industry appears to be entering another era of change, the view is towards minimizing a different kind of footprint: the energy, carbon, and environmental footprint of commercial and residential buildings. Once again, change is being driven by a need to optimize and conserve resources. This time, they are clean air, water, and energy. Fortunately, sustainable technologies and fine craftsmen may hold the key to meeting these current challenges. I would like to introduce our company Mega Interior & Construction Ltd that has been in business for the past 3 years. We have never compromised on the quality and the services provided to our customers. We believe in keeping any customer happy and providing them with quality products and gender equality services

MATRIX STRUCTURE ADVANTAGES

The following are a few advantages of a matrix organization structure: i.

Highly skilled and capable resources can be shared between the functional units and projects, allowing more open communication lines which help in sharing valuable knowledge within the organization.

ii. The matrix structure is more dynamic than the functional structure because it allows employees to communicate more readily across the boundaries, creating a pleasant, cooperative, work environment which helps to integrate the organization. iii. Employees are very skilled in functional departments, and project teams can get these highly-skilled employees whenever their services are needed. iv. Employees tend to be loyal to the organization and perform well since there is a sense of job security, and therefore, the efficiency of a matrix organization is higher.

OUR FOCUS

Directors: M. Quamina C. Khan-Gopaul

The creation of sustainable affordable urban and rural development to lessen vulnerability and increase adaptability to the environments we exist in is key. Building this time our approach must be different, as small islands located directly in the hurricane belt and subject to earthquake it is critical we consider flexible infrastructure that could shift with earth tremors to offer earthquake resistance and buffering our coastlines to mitigate storm surge and flooding. These are all of our challenges due to our location but with benefits to derive from it; we must look instead favorably on our position in the tropics and the abundance of resources and clean energy it affords us when building or rebuilding our schools, homes, and offices. The MEGA focus this year is to build the fastest affordable smart homes in the Caribbean, we are currently planning to build our first sustainable community in Tobago as soon as we get the land. (Make sure and join our fb group to be updated for when the sales go public) Picture a sustainable community that uses its resources to meet current needs while ensuring that adequate resources are available for future generations. MEGA seeks a better quality of life for all in all communities and around the Caribbean while maintaining nature’s ability to function over time by minimizing waste, preventing pollution, promoting efficiency and developing local resources to revitalize any local economy. We plan to lead in important decision-making in designing sustainable communities which will come from a rich civic society relationship and shared information among community members, councilors, and customers. A sustainable community resembles a living system in which human, natural and economic elements are in harmony with nature. It is time to build communities that are living off the principal of their community capital instead of investing in that capital and living off the interest. A sustainable community wisely manages all its capital using and improving the social, natural and built capital in ways that allow that capital to continue to support that community in the future. Building communities that living off the interest of the community capital is one of our many foci

COMPANY SERVICE SUMMARY Mega Interior and Construction Ltd offers a wide range of environmentallyconscious designs and energy solutions related to new and existing structures. The main areas of consulting, construction, and supplying products and services that Mega Interior Construction Ltd. will offer are as follows: i. The Living Building Challenge: This is the world's most rigorous proven performance standard for buildings. People from all around the world use this regenerative design framework to create spaces that, like a flower, give more than they take. Imagine a building that harvests its own energy, collects its own water and is free of environmental pollutants such as chemicals or foreign materials known to have an adverse effect on the building or its occupants. Launched in 2006, Living Building Challenge (LBC), or “Challenge” as it has become known, is a building certification program that guides the most advanced execution of sustainability in the built environment and is an aggressive opportunity for building projects to move far beyond “being less bad” to being truly regenerative. It has inspired and motivated rapid and significant change in green construction projects all over the world. ii. LEED: is a rating system devised by the United States Green Building Council (USGBC) to evaluate the environmental performance of a building and encourage market transformation towards sustainable design. LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, is the most widely used green building rating system in the world. Available for virtually all old or new buildings, urban development, communities, and home projects. LEED provides a framework to create healthy, highly efficient and cost saving green buildings. LEED certification is a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement. iii. CPTED: CPTED (pronounced sep-ted) is an environmental standard on building design and urban planning to provide performance requirements for the prevention of crime in residential areas at new and existing housing, including local shops, in order to ensure safety and comfort and to minimize fear of violence. A great number of experiments have shown that particular types of crime can be reduced by modifying the opportunity for crime in the built environment…Thus; crime is less prevalent in environmentally friendly areas. iv. Passive heating: This applies to the construction of new structures, structures designed to capture and utilize heat that is either generated naturally or as a by-product of the building. Passive heating entails specific placement of the heating vents, the design and placement of the building and its windows. v. Grey water: This is the capture and utilization of Grey water. Grey water is water that has been used for some other source such as in the faucets or rain water that can no longer be offered as potable, but still can be used for toilet flushing or land irrigation. Directors: M. Quamina C. Khan-Gopaul

vi. Renewable energy: This service offers customers the information needed to make intelligent decisions regarding the use of renewable energy sources. Renewable energy sources can be defined as sources of energy where the rate of energy depletion is not faster than the production rate. Examples include: wind power, photovoltaics, hydro power, biomass, and solar energy. vii. Employee transportation: This service is to reduce the energy consumed by employees travelling to work. Typical aspects of the plan are outlining public transportation options, developing a company subsidized public/alternative transportation voucher, building covered bicycle lockers and shower facilities as well as other conveniences designed to increase the number of employees using bicycles as their main source of transportation to work.
